Uploading Mp3's from a CD-R

Is there a way to upload from a burned disk. The manual tells you that it is not possible and i have tried and it won't recognize the disk to record but will play them. I am trying to upload my music to the hard drive and I don't have many of my old regular cd's left, just digital music....is it possible?

Hmmm... I have only had my Z3 a week but I have already uploaded several CD-Rs which I burned on a Macbook using iTunes. It uploaded the music no problem, but I had to manually type in the artist info (obviously).

I need to find out how to switch the mode from dvd to cd

There would be no switch for that. If your Car audio / dvd player, really can play both, it will discover what it is playing.
It would play both, CD and DVD. But I'm not sure you also can play Video DVD's. Not telling here, what model player you use, I can't find out either.
Just check the manual, to see what the player can and can't play. Be aware not all players can play disks, you burned yourself. And for DVD you must be sure the player is set to the region code, the disk have.

My jensen wont play cds but it will play dvds how do i fix this when i put a cd in it it says bad disk

Are you using professionally recorded CD's, or are you burning your own CD's?

Professionally recorded CD's are very compatible with most CD players because lasers can read them easier with a transparent, silver-like finish on the bottom of the CD. CD-R's that you buy from the store, for the most part, are a darker blue color, and can be difficult for some lasers to read. Try using CD-R's with a lighter, silver-like finish on the bottom.

First, try using a retail, store bought CD to test if the laser can indeed read the CD. If this works, then the above suggestion may prove to be true.

If this does not work, try using a different CD burning application, such as iTunes, Windows Media Player, Nero, CDBurnerXP, etc.

It can't read dvd disc, but if i'm using an mp3/cd its fine

Was this a burned dvd or a store bought one? Sounds like the laser that reads dvd is dirty, try to play another dvd and see what happens after cleaning.

Avn5500 says "disc check" when i try to play dvds

that is because they are burned DVD- try an original and it will work. Burned dvd's will heat up faster and cause the laser to read through the dvd,

Unit doesnt read disks

Possibly a "logic lock" issue. Try unplugging the unit WHILE it's powered up. Wait a few, then plug back in and try agin. Let me know.

If sme problem, you can "try" a laser lens cleaner but I never had any luck with those. By my guess the unit is around 2 years old?

Oh, and make sure the discs are clean.....duh :-)

W200 will not play any type disk say "disk error"

The only fix i've found for this (without replacing parts) is to turn the unit off and back on and it will read the cd.

Problem with playing DVD-R discs

The problem is that the mp3 format compresses the files to make them very small. The advance function on the dvd player was set up to advance, let's say, 1/2 second at a time. Well, the dvd or cd file will advance a 1/2 second, but an mp3 format file, which is way smaller, will advance the same distance on the disc which ends up being 10 seconds or so. I had the same problem with my panasonic. Solution would be to burn the files onto the disc in a cd format. You won't be able to put 100+ songs on the disc like you could with an mp3 format, but you will be able to controll the advancing a lot easier.

Cd dvd wont play

Many of the older DVD and CD players will not play disks recorded on a computer. This has to do mainly with the laser optical response.

There were several manufactures that manufactured their laser unit with a built in filter that would not allow their player to read non pressed CD disks (disks burned with a home computer).

When buring DVD's or CD's, use the slowest possible speed for the burn to have the highest readablity and least data errors possible for the medium.
