Bought a Tamiya 1/14th Semi and have connected all the wires. The steering and gear shift servo wires sit really loose in the receiver so it doesn't work 100%. Just wondering what I can do to make the...

Crimp the ends a little closer together with radio pliers. Not too tight that they restrict movement but just enough to take up any slack. If the rods are still loose or too long, try to crimp a little kink in the middle to shorten the rod.

Do you have to build it your self car?

Yes, almost if not all Tamiya brand radio control vehicles have to be assembled. They have excellent instructions and you will find it fun to build your RC. You'll then have intimate knowledge of your RC when it comes to repairs or upgrades. Hobby grade RC's are the best way to go for longevity. I have some that are over 20 years old and still going strong. One of them is the Tamiya ClodBuster.

Go to Google and search Tamiya Instructions, there should be images that can help there. They have a ton of different instructions so you may have to sift through the diagrams and what not. Hope it helps :)

I lost Two instruction manual (1) Tamiya 1:12 If you scroll down you can open the links to the Assembly guide, drag them to your desktop and print them out.

No power to the wheels! (Rising storm)

Make sure that the motor wires havent come off the electronic speed control wires. If you can here the motoe turning make sure the pinion gear hasn't come off the motor.

You onky need one servo for steering as the esc does the power for you. You should get the basic Tamiya esc from tower. Something like this:

Setup instructions will be in the manual and with the ESC.
