New RP TV, strange scart problems.

Just received my toshiba 42pw23, having a strange problem when connecting to
my tivo via scart.

i) The TV wont switch on, either by the TV remote or Tivo remote, however,
if the Tivo is put into standby the Tv will come out of standby (?).
ii) when watching TV via Tivo (with sky connected) the remote control
becomes highly unresponsive, eg, volume, manual wide screen switching etc,
does not work, except, maybe every 30 seconds or so.

If Tivo is not connected, or if I am out of Tivo watching TV normally, then
the remote works 100%

This is quite annoying, as it is quite tricky to put tivo into standby.....
