I dropped my Acer computer the other day. The computer still works, but the screen is messed up pretty bad. I'm am going to send it in for repair, but while I'm waiting to send it in, I was wondering if someone could help me with one of the problems I'm having. After I restarted the computer after the incident ;( the desktop screen was enlarged. I can only see the top left corner of my background picture, half of my icons are missing, and my start menu is missing. I believe they are still on my desktop though, I just can't see them. I can change the resolution of the desktop to make it smaller, but it just keeps moving the screen further and further down to the bottem right corner. I know that if I can figure out how to move my desktop screen over, then I could see my entire screen perfectly.
Does anyone know how to move the desktop screen on an Acer? Thanks!

Sorry for the bad news, but that means you have broken the LCD screen, the only fix is a replacement screen, and it may be cheaper just to get a new computer.
Find a local computer repair shop and they can give you an estimate for replacing the screen.
On the side of your computer will be a VGA port, using a different monitor you can plug this into your laptop while its powered off, turning the computer back on will display it on the screen you plugged into and on the cracked screen, after fully booting up you can go to the control panel to the display and transfer your primary screen to the other one using that as your primary screen, you will also need to consider replacing your screen most computer shops will offer this at the charge of the screen and labour.
I like to help you regarding your concern having big Icons on your desktop, you mentioned that your kid accidentally pressed something on the machine that made everything big, See steps below to changes the Icons or your systems desktop settings.
First the system should be turned ON and logged in to Windows, I am assuming that you have Windows7 on your computer.
On the keyboard Hold down the CTRL button while holding down the CTRL key on the mouse scroll, scroll backwards this should make things smaller again.
If the screen on the Internet is also big do the same thing while your Internet Explorer is open this should change the size of the text / pictures anything on the Internet explorer.
But if the above does a different function from what you are experiencing then I believe that you are experiencing some changes in the resolution of the screen if everything is Enlarged.
Click on Start then on the search bar type in display, a list will show look for Display then click on it to open up the Display window then click on Adjust resolution.
The resolution on your screen depends on how big the LCD screen is
On the Resolution page you can pretty much check each resolution on the list that will be better to you, then click on Apply lower right then OK to apply settings on this page.
I hope that this will be of help regarding your concern.
if your screen is messed up, than you'll have to replace the screen. Monitors don't need to be cracked to be broken. Luckily, replacement monitors for laptops can be inexpensive online.
Go to Control panel->System->hardware->device manager. Remove/uninstall the display adapter and reboot the pc. Got to the same place again and from the menu select action and then scan for new hardware. Your display adapter would be reinstalled.
Please change the refresh rate of your monitor and it will solve your problem
right click on your desktop and click properties click on settings and then advanced you will see something like this now from this drop down list please change the refresh to 60Hz first and apply if not good then try to increase the refresh rate
Thnx and i hope this solves your problem Please rate this solution...Thnx
Flashing the Bios is a LAST DITCH effort to resolve Hardware issues. You should NEVER flash the bios unless you are absolutely certain it's the correct bios for your computer, also NEVER flash bios from within windows..
There may however be a solution for you, Acer laptop computers with the Pheonix BIOS sometimes has a " flashback" feature, allowing you to revert to your original Bios..
You will need to contact Acer to get a Crisis Bios recovery disk from them. Or ask for further information on how exactly to recover from a bad bios flash.
There is a port for monitor cable, just plug your monitor and boot up your laptop. You need to plug first and then power it on. it should use your monitor for display
yea i have the same problem all i can see is the top leaft of my background and i didnt even drop it
