Start by checking that the drum rotates freely - unplug it from the wall and rotate it by hand. Then check that the air exhaust and the lint separator are free/unclogged.
After that you must dismantle the dryer to check the motor of the drum, heating resistance and the fan - since you will be working with live power you should let that to a pro.
