If the microwave is not heating and isn't caused by it being in a strange mode then this usually means that either the magnatron or the power transistors have failed. Either of these are repairable but the repairs are not that cheap. So the repairs can cost more than a new microwave. The power transistors are worth about $5 and then you might get charged say $75 for labour. So the question then is if it is cheaper to fix it or replace it with a new one. If you have a higher end one that is worth more then it can be worth fixing. If it is a lower cost unit then just replace it. Get an repair estimate first and know what a suitable replacement costs and use that as your guide for what to do.

You can find appliance repair shops either from stores or contact Kenmore(Sears) to see if they have a repair depot near you.

Want run or turn on to heat food

if your microwave is not heating food there could be two possible reasons. firstly maybe its the high voltage fuse that's gone,in that case the display is on the motor rotates but no heating since power is not reaching the magnetron. Secondly if your high voltage fuse is ok,display is there but no heating, the magnetron is faulty and it needs replacement

Heating problem

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the microwave doesn't heat the thermal fuse may have blown. It can be tested for continuity. Watch our fuse testing video for more information.
If the microwave does not heat, the high voltage transformer might be burned out. Microwave ovens produce a very high voltage in order to power the magnetron antenna, which emits the energy that cooks the food.
If the microwave doesn't heat the high voltage capacitor might be defective. The high voltage capacitor works with the high voltage diode to convert the output of the transformer to DC voltage and to double the output voltage. If the capacitor is burned out the entire high voltage circuit stops working properly. The high voltage capacitor can be checked with a special VOM meter which has a capacitance testing capability. Be aware that the high voltage capacitor can retain a charge of more than 3,000 volts and can injure or kill a person if not handled properly. Only trained technicians should perform this type of testing.
If the microwave oven doesn't heat the magnetron tube might have burned out. The magnetron uses high voltage, high current DC power to generate the microwave frequency that cooks the food. If the microwave oven is turned on when it is empty this can cause the magnetron to burn out. Once it is burned out it has to be replaced, it's not repairable.
If the microwave does not heat, one of the door switches might be defective. Microwave ovens normally have three door switches, if any of them fail the microwave does not turn on and does not heat. Check the switches for continuity with an Ohm meter.
The high voltage diode converts the A/C power output of the transformer to D/C, doubling the voltage to nearly 5,000 volts. This high voltage powers the magnetron which emits the energy that cooks the food. If the diode burns out, a lower A/C voltage reaches the magnetron, which is not sufficient to power the magnetron. When the diode fails it is often visibly burned out. If it appears to be good, it can be tested with a volt-Ohm meter capable of testing diodes. High voltage diodes frequently fail and are one of the most common points of failure in a microwave oven.

My delonghi 800w microwave oven works but does not heat up food

If your handy with getting the cover off and looking inside... check the obvious.
I suspect :
If both microwave and Heating elements dont work, then I will assume the magnetron is ok, ans we are dealing with a high voltage issue... and you will need at best... a volt meter and or neon troublelight...
moust appliances have a simple schematic inside... I would start with the heating element first... trace wiring back to circuit board... usually one side of the heating element is connected to the white wire (neutral) and live (Hot) side is controlled thru the circuit board... so finding the neutral should be easy... then trace with neon light or voltmeter...

I know easy for me to say... but with everything else working... it doesnt seem to be the microprocessor that controlls the unit...

Microwave not heating food

There is a fuse or fusable link inline to the brain of the microwave.
This fuse is inside the actual microwave cover. Remove the cover and follow the electical line from the plug forward and you should see the fuse. Replacement fuses can be bought at an appliance parts house.

Mostly the problem may be with the defective magnetron., before replacing the magnetron you can check the fuse and the voltage at the primary winding of the Highvoltage transformer. If they are ok replace the magnetron.

Everything works on the microwave but wont heat food.

You need to remove the cover, (Power Unplugged!!) look for and check a long glass fuse (usually in a plastic housing)
It's 5000 volt and less then one amp rating.
It's a small wire inside fuse so check it with a meter.
If it's ok, it's most likely the Magnetron which is usually half the price of the machine.
If the fuse has blown, see if there is a black diode, 30-40 mm long, one end is screwed to the case.
Disconnect one end, If you have continuity both directions, it's failed causing the fuse to blow.
Replace that diode / high voltage rectifier and then the fuse.
You should be back in business.

Microwave doesnt heat food

Microwave not heating problems are the result of one or more of the following problems -

1) Bad fuse
2) Bad diode
3) Bad capacitor
4) Bad transformer
5) Bad magnetron.

You would need to have special equipment to test the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th items.
