Connect it to a different USB port on your computer, or to a USB port on a different computer, to see if it will charge at all.

If not, the WARRANTY for it might still be valid.
Take it back to where you bought it, and exercise the warranty.

It may be that the Power Supply Unit in your computer is struggling to cope with the demand of the components you have in your computer. Manufacturers try to use the one with enough watts output that they can get away with. It could also be that the PSU is failing.

Does the i-Pod charge if you use the mains adapter that came with it?

If there is another USB cord around try using that. The problem might be with the cord.
If the iPod is still not charging, the problem might be a dying battery. If that is the issue, try to see if the iPod is less than a year old. Register the iPod and then go to the Apple Store. They might be able to replace it for you for free.
If not, you can go to the Apple Store to get it fixed for a fee
or
Bring it to the Apple Store and buy a new iPod for 10% off.

You should be able to "synch" the old ipod with iTunes on your computer and it will copy your library on to the computer. then just plug in the new ipod touch and "synch" them.

My apple ipod touch will not charge. Nothing will come across the screen. not even a view if the battery. I've had it charging hooked to the USB cable to my computer for at least 30 minutes and still...

Hi,

it might be that the charging space that makes the i pod charge is faulty due to always removing and fixing the charger in the charging space. The charging space might have been damaged or the voltage of the light i your area fluctuates and might have affected the charger too.

Check the charger with another i pod to confirm if is the charger or the charging space that needs to be replaced.

Take care.

My ipod wont stay charged

This may not be the answer you are looking for but your I pod might not be fully charged, meaning that you are not plugging it in the computer/docking system long enough.( it takes much longer than 15 minutes to charge the battery. So you might want to plug it in/dock it over night) Or you may be playing a game that uses a lot of MB/GB so it kills the battery. And make sure that you press the play/pause button down for at least five seconds before switching the little switch at the top of your I pod. If you don't press the play/pause button for five seconds and just switch the switch at the top a little lock will appear on the left corner meaning you need to hold the play/pause button down for five seconds then the i pod screen goes black at that time flick the switch at the top off. -hope it helps owner of i pod nano and I pod touch.

your computer has its own personal i-tunes for your i-pod and all your music is saved to that computer so if you plug your i-pod into someone elses computer it will eighther sync all thier music to your i-pod or it will erase all the music on your i-pod they dont have on thier computer...my sujjestion is to buy a plug in to the wall charger for your i-pod if your barely home to charge it. that way you keep your music yet charge your i-pod to.
