Question about Venta - Airwasher LW44 Air Purifier
I accidentally pushed the button that said "accept" but none of the solutions helped. Does anyone over there have experience with this particular humidifier/air cleaner? It is a plastic boxy thing about 8"x12". It has a connected al together bunch of plastic discs. The discs sit in the water. On the inside top is a motor and fan. This machine is 5 years old. However, I have only used it for about 18-24 months. It is not calcified or dirty. The motor seems to run. The fan turns from slow to fast depending on the speed I push. Their appears to be no obvious way into this motor. The plastic circular disc assembly is supposed to turn. The fan then blows air on the wet discs and it supposedly cleans and humidifies the air. I'm not sure about the cleaning part but it is a good humidifier. Pretty quiet. So now, is there anyone there who can give me help based on this particular machine?

Unplug the unit from the A/C outlet. Turn the fan unit over, and with your finger, spin the fan as fast as you easily can. Tooth like projections should rotate out of the lower most part of the assembly. These teeth drive the wheel. If they don't come out, the problem might be in the seating of that silicon rubber nipple, or the "tooth" assembly could be gummed up with algae and deposits. You can wash it out. The problem with mine is the teeth work, but the wheel still doesn't move. I have emailed the sales office for help. I love the unit's performance, but it is temperamental. Good luck, and please post, if you fix it.

When you add water, you should notice bubbles (just a few) on top of the water. When the water no longer has bubbles, the additive is shot, and you should wash out the tank. We have dirty air, and it takes about 2 weeks for us. I spray it with Murphy's Soap to soak a few minutes and wipe it out with a sponge. Rinse. Spray the wheel similarly (all over) and spray with a kitchen hose, as hot as possible. You may have to repeat. I clean my wheel between tank cleaning, so it doesn't build up. You should use the additive, because the water has to be slippery to work with the wheel. Maybe you can find a different "wetting solution," that would be cheaper; Venta gets an arm and a leg for it. Good Luck. I like the performance of mine, but it is temperamental.

The manual available on this page is very helpful: http://www.venta-airwasher.com/html/technical_data.html
Here's what is says about the disc stack not turning:
Problem: Disk stack not turning
Check that the rubber coupling is properly inserted into the bottom of the gear.
It also indicates that there is a 10 year limited warranty, if your unit is younger than 10 years you should probably call Venta at 1-888-333-8218 to inquire about service.
