How do i find my wep key

Most routers today no longer use the easily defeated WEP encryption. Most all use WPA/WPA2. Thar said, you must know the passcode as most routers will not display the code even internally (just shows a string of ******). The only thing you can do is go into router setup and change the passcode to something you know. But then all other devices attached to the wireless network must change passcode as well.

IM HAVING PROBLEM SETTING UP WIRELESS ROUTER TO MY COMPUTER

Follow this instructions:1. connect via hard wired connection (network cable)2. open your internet explorer or any browser.3. type the numbers 192.168.1.1 on the address bar4. you will be routed to your router's settings, type admin for USERNAME: and admin for PASSWORD.5. look for the basic setup/settings6. look for the wireless settings7. under your SSID comes the WEP or WPA-PSK option8. that is your wi-fi password, then modified it and remember the password you use for you will need to enter it on your pc when you are connecting via wireless connection.you can select ASCII for password. it should be alpha numeric or combination of letters and numbers.9. select saveand apply. then you can remove the network cable from the back of your pc.10. restart your pc then search for new wireless networks then connect.11. now enter the WPA passcode or WEP passcode that you have created on the instruction #8. then you are good to go.

Wpa pass phrase

Although the information you've left is very vague.

I'm assuming you want to know what the WPA passcode is so you can connect to your network to get online Xbox 360?

It will be the wireless password you use to get on the internet with a laptop of sorts. If you have a 2wire gateway/modem its on the bottom of the modem in brackets usually. I'd check to see who setup your wireless router and they'll be able to get you the passcode for your wireless.

Deriving the WPA passphrase is supposed to be VERY HARD. This is why no one uses WEP anymore, deriving the key was possible.
How many wi-fi devices do you have? If you enumerate all of them, including levels, someone may have an idea, because all the working devices have to know the passphrase. For example, if one of them is a Windows device, well, the passcode is somewhere on the windows device so that the driver can get it and it is possible to reconstruct it, I am just not sure how. Someone might know or it might be possible to find the procedure with a web search.
But what I would do is just change the passcode and then reconfigure all the devices you own to use the new one. Then I would write the passcode on a piece of paper and tape it to the router. You mostly care about the passcode to stop over the air attacks, (from people sitting in your front yard) and if someone can physically get to the router, they are allowed to know the over-the-air encryption code.

Cant find my linksys passcode!

You require a wired or connected PC
How do I find out my Wireless key (WEP or WPA) ?

There are numerous ways to find out these values so I will cover a few.

Easy Solution (you should be so lucky)
Sometimes the value for the Wireless Key is written on the underneath of the router, look for SSID (this is the network name) and WEP or WPA key (called the encryption key)

Alternative Method
In order to find out your Wireless Network Key you must first use a cable to connect to your router.

Once connected check that you are connected to the internet by opening Internet Explorer

The address or the router is usually one of the following values:-

http://192.168.0.1
http://192.168.1.1
http://10.10.0.2
http://192.168.2.1
http://192.168.2.254

Try clicking on each and see if you get a logon box popping up

If you do, that is the correct address for your Wireless router, note it down.

If the box has the username and password completed, then click OK

If there is no value for username try "admin" and for the password try one of the following "password", "admin",

Also try nothing for the username and "admin" for the password

Sometimes the value for these are written on the underneath of the router

Once the router page is displayed, look for an item called Wireless Settings.
Next see if a further option for Wireless Security exists.
The names of these items vary from Router to Router

Once security is displayed the SSID (Network Names) and the WPA or WEP Key can be found.

Passcode forgotten

the passcode it's asking is the wireless security that was setup on your router. it could be a wep or wpa.
in order to get it, you need to access the setup page of your router. for most routers, all you need to is open a web browser and enter the router's ip address.
i can't provide the exact steps since i don't know the exact model of your router.
you can try to ask the person who manages your router for the wireless key.

hope this'll help you but if not, provide me the exact brand and model of your router

ciao!

The WPA key is found in your wireless router. This is the passcode for your wireless to get on to the network.
