Question about Dell Latitude D630 Notebook
It sounds like you may have damaged the hard drive. Can you get the thing to come up to the point that you can run any diagnostics?

go to my computer icon, right click, properties>hardware tab>device manager, then lok down the list to keyboard, click on the + sign and right click on your keyboard and select uninstall.
Restart the notebook and the driver will automatically load again and should type as normal.
