Question about Groove Games Desert Thunder for Windows

I recently purchased an original never used copy of "Desert Thunder" and cannot get past the second set of scenarios out of the eight scenarios in the game. In other words when I finish the last scene in the second set I cannot progress to the third level, or set of scenarios. Is there a patch for this problem? Thank you, "Out of Action Tanker"

    I did download DirectX and I had my son check the graphics card which he claims is current and about the best I can get. I also reloaded the game after following your directions, all to no effect. Are there any other suggestions? Thanks

    I would like to pick up the trail on this problem even though it has been two months since we last communicated. I did reinstall the game several times. I have two originals of this game and both have the same problem in the same place on the game. My graphics driver is an Intel 82865G which I had to go to the Dell site to get an update. I believe I did that but if you could send me a link to an update just to make sure that might be helpful. It is not available on the Intel web site. Thanks.

    Thank you that is a really neat program and I did update several Drivers so that program was a great help for the health of my computer in general. Unfortunately my game still cannot get beyond level two. Any other suggestion(s) would be appreciated. Thank you and no hurry.

    Ok I understand. I may give your last suggestion a try when I have time. I tried to contact Groove Games to learn that they had be bought out so that was a dead end. Anyway thanks for the effort!

Have you tried reinstalling? If not first uninstall the game, then restart your computer, update the directx to the latest (supported) version, update the graphics driver and then reinstall it. This should fix it, even if it doesn't we'll be able to narrow down the causes.

    I am so sorry. Since I am dealing with many questions and problems, I couldn't remember whether or not this has been resolved or have given a reply. I hope you'll definitely forgive me for my mistakes. I thank you for posting back today so that I could recollect my promise to you.



    Well, if you have updated the DirectX and the same problem persists, then let's try to update all the drivers which are outdated. Instead of going to the manufacturers' websites, let's use a tool which will help you automatically scan your systems for outdated drivers and download them from the internet without hassles.



    Please download and install this (Click Here), once it's installed, run/open the program, i.e. Device Doctor. Now, click "Begin Scan" button to start scanning your computer for outdated drivers. Scanning may take few minutes, once it's done, you'll be displayed with all the available outdated drivers of your system, click the respective driver's name to open the respective download page... Screen Shots below:















    Once you click a result, a new page will open up on your browser (eg..Internet Explorer) with the download link. As an instance, I have clicked to "Download update" button beside the "Realtek RTL....." to update the Realtek Lan Driver...













    A new page with this option is opened up...:









    Click the "Download Driver Installer" to begin the download. The description and the format of the driver is clearly mentioned on that page, in my case, it "Realtek_LAN_V57265252009_V62235252009.zip" which is a winzip file. Once it's download, open the file with Winzip or Winrar and install it after the contents are extracted.





    Repeat the same step for the next driver and so on until all the updates are downloaded and installed. After everything is updated restart your computer and see if this helps or not.

    I am sorry, actually I am out of ideas. From my end, I would suggest you to try the same game on another running same (similar) operating system. If that's ok, then your only options is to reformat your current computer where the game isn't leveled up. This isn't a known issue so the even developer don't have idea. I've contacted Groove Games (the game developer), but they are useless and didn't have any idea about this. It's possible that there must be some conflicts between softwares or applications or drivers or etc.. I can't assure since I don't have idea about what programs are installed on your computer. You can also try disabling all the programs before you run the game. In that case, the best option is through "msconfig". Click the "Start" button, "Run" (windows xp) or "start search" (windows vista and 7) and type in "msconfig" (msconfig without quotes), press Enter. A new window will open up, and disable everything in the "start-up" tab (if you have realtek high definition audio, please leave it enabled), otherwise you'll not get sound when playing the game. In short, click the "Startup" tab and click "Disable All" button. Once it's done, click "Apply" and then "Ok", you'll be prompted to restart your computer. Close all the running/opened programs and restart your computer. Now play the game as soon as it's up. These are all that I can suggest you. If you still need further help, let me know. Good Luck.

I have just purchased an external hard drive for my mac as it is now full. its a toshiba store.e canvio. i have just transferred a movie from iTunes to the drive but it will not play and says file is


This may be a permissions problem. In finder, click on the file, then go to File:Get Info (or type <command>-i). In the file info window, look for "Sharing and permissions." Click on the triangle to expand. Look for a padlock icon, then click on it and type in your administrator password when it is requested. Now you can change permission from "No access" to "Read Only" or "Read and Write."

If this is not available, you've run afoul of iTunes copy protection, or iTunes is not set to look there for files. In the first case, you'll have to work from inside iTunes to get a viable copy onto the external drive, perhaps as a backup copy. In the second case, you would open Preferences in the iTunes menu, then click the Advanced tab to get to the iTunes media folder location dialog. (Make sure the external drive is connected before opening Preferences.) Click "Change..." and browse to the proper folder on the external hard drive. You will have to change back to the original location if the external drive is not connected, so first copy the original location path name and paste it on a Stickies note. After you set the external location, do the same with that path name. Then instead of having to navigate to file locations every time you change, you can just copy the path from the Stickies note and paste it into the location box.
The preceding paragraph was written for iTunes 10.6.3. Your version may differ somewhat.

  • Place an OHP transparency on the exposure glass, and then place the print on the OHP transparency.
  • Place the print on the exposure glass, and then place two or three sheets of white paper on it. Leave the ADF open when copying.
White stripes appear on the OHP. Fragments of paper are stuck to the OHP. Use a dry cloth to wipe any paper fragments off the back of the OHP. The image on the back side of duplex copies has mottled blank patches or is smudged. Missing patches and smudges are caused by moisture leaking from the paper.
  • Do not install the machine in areas that are susceptible to low temperatures.
  • Use paper that has been stored where temperature and humidity conditions meet the limitations we recommend. For details about the paper storage conditions we recommend, see "Paper Storage", About This Machine .
  • Install the Optional anti-humidity heater. For details about the anti-humidity heater, contact your service representative.

Hi i have the samsung ht q20 dvd cinema system, i recently put a code in the dvd to make it multi region however now it does not play any original or copy dvds at all... i read in a forum you can revert...


While "NO DISC" message appears on the display of main unit, hold the main unit's STOP button for longer than 5 seconds. "INITIALIZE" appears on the display and all settings will return to the default values.
Using the RESET function will erase all stored settings.
