Question about Dell 3200MP Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

How do I turn off the projector? It keeps searching for a signal and asks if I want to turn off the lamp -- but I am not connected to a laptop and don't know how to communicate with it.

Use remote menu to turn it off and your projector needs to be connected to a signal device to project an image

I have a Sanyo plc-xt25 LCD Projector and when I plug my ac cord in, the fans turn on but no lamp comes on. I changed the lamp and still no picture. What do I do?

Every projector lamp is equipped with ballast. The problem area is ballast. Either the ballast is not getting DC supply or the lamp turn ON signal from the projector main board or the ballast is faulty. Remove the lamp. Connect the projector to the mains supply. Check the voltage at the lamp connector inside the projector without turning it ON. It should be around 65 volts A/C. (Warning: Multimeter will get damaged if the projector power is turned ON due to generation of high voltage) If you find this 65 volts then it confirms that it has DC supply & the ballast is functioning. The ballast receives the the turn ON signal from microcontroller through opto-coupler on the ballast. The ballast opto-coupler can be checked by providing external 5V DC supply between pin 3 (+ve) & 4 (-ve) in turn switches ON the lamp. If this works then there is no problem with your lamp & ballast. The problem lies with the main board. If this does not solve your problem then give me the feedback.

I have a infocus IN35 that at 100 hours burnt out a bulb. Thinking that it was just a bulb problem I bought a new bulb and it lasted 20 minutes. a t.v.repair shop said its probably the ballast that is the...

It is not a common problem. Ballasts rarely need repairs. Have you reset the lamp hours to zero after installing new bulb? If, yes to confirm about ballast please ask the TV repair shop man whether previously he had repaired any DLP projector. There is lot of difference in technology of DLP projector & TV (except DLP Projection TV). The problem could be in the projector main board. The lamp lights after getting Lamp ON signal from the projector main board. As the lamp ignites the ballast sends the signal of Lamp Lit. If the projector board senses that any blower/exhaust fan or colour wheel is not running then it will send a signal to Switch OFF the lamp. If you are tech-savvy then do as follows to check about lamp & ballast. Remove 5 pin connector from the projector. Connect projector to mains supply. Get a 5V DC power supply. Connect +ve to pin 3 & -ve to pin 4 of the ballast connector from this supply. The lamp should light. If it does not light then there is problem in the ballast (if the lamp is new). To give a chance you can check it for your lamp which lasted 20 minutes. Generally ballasts are made by OSRAM. You can get the ballast from OSRAM dealer. You will need the part number for that. Take out the ballast, it is there on it.

I get a blue screen on my misubishi sl1 projector lamp and no signal appears on the screen

Hi

Make sure the Computer Input is set to VGA, Computer, or RGB (depending on which projector model you have).

There are also known known hot-key combinations used to switch the laptop to its external VGA mode. If you are using a laptop.

Check the cables as well if properly connected both on computer and projectors end.

Hope this helps

Most modern computers don't care which is plugged in first and/or turned on first... But, it can't hurt to have them both plugged in, then turn on the projector - then the computer. If the computer doesn't send a signal automatically on bootup, then you will need to tell it to...

On the function keys at the top of your laptop keyboard, there are some indications (most computer brands are different from one another so it might be one of several indications). Look for something that either looks like a small monitor or two, or label that says "crt/lcd" - this will be in a highlighted color that matches the color of your Fn key to the left of the spacebar. Fress "Fn" and the corresponding key at the top at the same time and you should get some changes from the computer. Depending on your video card, you might need to press it several times to cycle through the various settings of 1)computer screen, 2)display output only, 3)both computer screen & display output, and in some cases 4)no display sent.

Hope this helps! If not, I would check/try new or different cables from the computer to the projector in case you might just have a bad one.
