Question about Whirlpool DU930PWSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

My dishwasher is less than 10 months old. I was running it last night and it just quit before the drying cycle. Now nothing on it will work. I checked the breaker, nothing was tripped.

I can't even get the dishwasher out from under the cabinet! Let alone try to figure it out, and just realized I never mailed my warranty card in so I guess I will have to call someone and just **** it up.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To start with try to leave the unit unplugged for 10-15 minutes and while its unplugged check for clogs in the drain hose.
Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn't working properly, the drain pump isn't working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home's drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages, if everything appears to be fine then it is better to use warranty and get it replaced/repaired. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

How do I turn up the heat to remove most condensation after washing?

As part of the current ecological, energy-saving, environmentalist-wacko movement, dishwasher makers have cut back on the heating used to dry dishes. In fact in many dishwasher designs, they have eliminated the drying vent altogether, and instead use a condensate or condensation-drying system. In this system, the last rinse cycle is heated to a high temperature, to heat the dishes. The water is then pumped out, and the dishwasher shuts down. The theory is that water will evaporate off the hot dishes, condense on the sides of the dishwasher, and run back down into the sump area. Bosch was one of the first diswashers to do this, and it works fairly well for them. Other manufacturers have tried this, with varying results. Here's what you can do to improve drying:
1. It is imperative that you use rinse-aid (Jet-Dry). This allows more water to flow off the dishes and what flows off does not need to evaporate.
2. If the dishwasher has the options, turn on high-temperature wash and sani-rinse. This gets the dishes hotter for better evaporation.
It is possible that the heater may not be working at all, and that will cause poor washing performance and no drying. This is very rare in dishwashers less than 3 years old. Most likely, poor drying in a new dishwasher is caused because you are not using rinse-aid.

Hi,

This is a common problem with Whirlpool washers. If the clean light is the one flashing then your dishwasher could have a heater circuit problem (depending on the age) or this could simply just be water colder than it is used to getting.

Repeatedly press the Heated Dry and Hi-Temp Wash(scrub) which ever yours has until all the LED lights come on, press cancel twice and try the dishwasher again making sure to run the water at the kitchen sink till it is hot before starting the dishwasher, if this trips and locks you have a problem with the heating element, or temp sensor.
Press the heated dry button followed by the normal cycle button, and then repeat once. You should see all of the lights come on for a second or two, and then the dishwasher will work again.
If you haven't already, take a look under the kick plate in front to see if there is a schematic tucked in there somewhere. Whirlpool has put their diagnostics for specific models on these.
I don't have the specific repair manual for you model.
So, if the above combination does not work here are two more that have worked for me.

HiTemp Wash + Air Dry + HiTemp Wash + Air Dry in less than 5 sec
or
Hi Temp Scrub/Scour + Air Dry + Hi Temp Scrub/Scour + Air Dry in less than 5 sec

Let me know, if you need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

In the last month I have noticed that my dishes aren't getting clean. My dishwasher is less than a year old and has done a great job so far. I tried adjusting the amount of rinse aid and the amount of...

First I would run the hot water until hot. Then start the dishwasher on the longest setting with the dispenser door closed( no detergent). Then after about 10-15 minutes open the door and check to see if the dispenser door opened, it should have. Then pour in about 1 cup of white vinegar and let the dishwasher finish. When the dishwasher reaches the end of the cycle open the door and it should be hot and steamy. If not check the heating element. If it is hot this should have cleaned it out, now try it with a load of dishes.

Dishes not drying and mildew growing in dishwasher

I totally agree with Solution #1. We have a Whirlpool (apparently Maytag is the same) and it gets moldy 2 days after it has been run. The maintenance guy came out and said we had to use the rinse cycle every day. For an $800 dollar dishwasher (which is less than 1 year old!) I expect more.

I had an old machine with a similiar problem & I found that food had somehow entered into the arm that spins & sprays out water. The food blocked somewhat the holes which of course means less cleaning.
