Question about Vacuums

Shark transformer vac model ep602 will not suction from the floor brush, but will suction from the flexible hose. Dust cup and filters are clean. Do I need to replace the floor brush? Unit was purchased in 2006.

Has the floor brush ever worked for you? I thought it was broken at first too. The hose has to be inserted in the appropriate hole in the side of the machine. The hose is where all the suction comes from, when you put it in the side hole it will provide suction for the floor brush.

My Shark Navigator does not have any suction. The roller brush works. What should I do?


Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

If the dust cup is too full, there is no space for the dirt to go when you are vacuuming. To fix this, remove the dust cup and empty the it.

If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt after emptying the dust cup, there may be something blocking the airway. There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris.

Uncleaned filters may also the reason why your vacuum has lost suction. To clean the foam and felt filters, remove the dust cup and pull out the two filters that are on the top of the motor base. Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water is running clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum.

If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace it.
Unfortunately, if none of the other solutions worked, your motor is going bad. Most of the time a new motor costs as much as the vacuum itself and it is not easy to replace the motor. It may be time for a new vacuum.

Shark navigator lift away turns on but no suction

It seems that there may be something blocking the airway. To fix this, please make sure to unplugged the unit from the power before performing this.

There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris.

The vacuum has a lack of suction compared to when we bought it 6 months ago


Clean all filters and if there is a hose it could be partially plugged as well. Take hose off and shove something like a dry water hose through it.There is usually a filter back of the dirt bag as well. If it has been used to vac up drywall dust the dust bag will plug up before its filled as the dust is so fine it will plug up every thing on the vac. Really clean every thing and it will work better.

Vacuum is clogged with dog hair. How can clog be removed?

If your Shark vacuum is clogged with dog hair there are a number of general maintenance cleaning tips you could perform to help keep your vacuum working at its peak performance.

First let's check out your brush roll. Is there dog hair wrapped around the roll itself? If so remove it by pulling out the dog hair, or use a razor if its tightly wrapped around. Manually rotate the brush roll to help unearth any hidden clogs behind the roll.

If there's dog hair throughout your unit be sure to empty the dust cup after every use. When the dust cup isn't emptied often this leads to clogs and a loss of suction.

Also, be sure to check your vacuums hose for any clogs, or clumps of dog hair. Stretch the hose out as far as you can. If you notice a clog in a hard to reach place use a broom handle to unclog it.

Your Shark vacuums filters may need to be replaced, or washed and may be a source for a lot of the dog hair in your vacuum. Wash and clean your unit's filter weekly. To do so, empty your filter screen outdoors to take off any excess debris and then clean under running water until the water comes out clean. Allow the filter screen to fully dry before inserting it back into the unit. This may take up to several hours.

How do i unclog shark navigator when dust won't go into cup?


Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum.

Loss of suction into the dust cup may be caused by either the dust cup filters or the motorized brush.

After unplugging your unit, press the release button on the back of of the unit and remove the roller brush. To make sure there is no blockage in the air hose, flip back your unit and remove any debris clogged inside the hose. With a pair of scissors, carefully cut any hair strands or debris tangled in the roller brush. Make sure you do not cut or damage the bristles. Make sure there is no clog inside the air duct at the bottom of the unit. Re-install the brushroll by clicking it into place. If the problem still persists, you may need to check your unit's filters.

Check you filters by first removing the dust cup and then removing the foam filter and rise under lukewarm water until the water runs clean. Do not use soap. Squeeze the excess water off the filter and allow it to air dry for 24 hours before use. Washable filters are recommended to be washed after every 2 to 4 uses and replaced every 3 to 6 months.

No suction


Check the tube that leads down to the brush head for clogging as well as any motor or HEPA filters. If that still shows nothing, take the cover off the brush head (like you're changing the belt) and look for obstructions in there. Usually, if you have low suction on the accessory hose, the problem is with a motor filter, HEPA filter, or a clog where the hose goes into the unit. If you have good suction on the accessory hose but none on the floor, it's usually in the brush head (clog or broken belt) Good luck

No suction


Check the main filter cone - if it has a rip in it, then there won't be any suction in it, also clean it gently with a paint brush to get all of the dust out and check the back of the upright after the bin is taken out as sometimes there is dirt clogged at the back. Check the front of the sole plate i.e. where the roller brush is and check the dust channel behind this as it can get clogged. Due to the nature of this vacuum with the hose being located at the front of the floor head dirt can be trapped but most of all its the paper pleated cone filter that needs a good brushing.
