This can indicate a problem with the high voltage circuits. Since this is a new set, it should still be under warranty. DO NOT open up the unit as that will void the warranty. Return the set or request warranty service. Note the 8 blinks when you request service as that should allow them to bring the correct replacement parts.

Unfortunately, this is a failure of the balancer board for the backlight. The unfortunate part is that the balancer is not available by itself anymore, and the whole panel must be replaced, as Sony only has the balancers attached to new panels. You can contact Sony directly to ask for assistance, and it usually helps.

In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. i had prob where my sony would switch off for a few secs thenh come back on . The solution was in menu / tv settings / sleep timer . Go into that and make sure its set to off. there are opions for off , 5 min 20 min 30 min etc... mine was set to nothing just blank.
