Question about Brother XL-2600

Open Question

The bobbin winder on my Brother XL 2600 machine stopped working. It just spins & won't engage. This is a model that does not required a knob adjustment to wind the bobbin. Might be better if it did. Machine is only 2,5 years old, not used that much.

SOURCE: Bobbin winder shaft won't spin. LCD says bobbin winding.

I had the same problem. The trick is to make sure that when you put the bobbin on the winder that the notch on the bobbin clicks on the notch holder. So turn the bobbin on the winder until you hear a click or that the bobbin can not be turned. To check if the bobbin is on the holder correctly start the bobbin winder without thread. If the bobbin is engaged on the winder it will spin, if not then it is not set on the notch. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Unable to wind bobbin on Brother Css-8150 stopped suddenly

Checking to see if in fact that the bobbin shaft is turning. Run it without any bobbin on the bobbin shaft. Make sure that it is push over in the correct position and run it. I checked on mine and it does make the whirring sound and the the shaft does spin. Also check underneath the shaft to see if there is any thread wrapped around it. ( I had problems with that in the past). I hope this helps,

SOURCE: winding bobbin- elna

The bobbinwinder spindle is on the top of the machine on the right.

Try to turn the spindle with your fingers. If it is turning easily, good. If not, see below.

Push the spindle to the right and it should turn when the handwheel turns.

If the spindle does not turn properly, remove the two screws that hold the top cover on. DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREW THAT IS ON THE SMALL BLOCK NEXT TO THE BOBBINWINDER SPINDLE.

The top cover will not remove because of the handle. While lifting up the cover, peer under to make sure that there is a small rubber tire on the under side of the bobbinwinder spindle.

If the tire is there, place a small drop of oil on the spindle and turn it until it frees up. Try not to get oil on the tire, it will make it slip. Wipe it off if it gets oily.

Replace the top and retry.

SOURCE: Bobbin winder will not spin on sewing machine

If you take the top off you will see a tiny rubber tire that engages the winder to the handwheel. Over time they get really soft are really hard and disintgrate. If you have a local sewing shop take the old one in and get a new one to slip on it takes only a few minutes and cost usually less that $2.00

Why the bobbin winder does not turn when engaged?

Is the hand wheel pulled out ? Usually to get a bobbin to wind, you have to disengage the clutch.. this is usually done by pulling either the entire hand wheel or a knob in the middle of it out. This stops the needle going up/down.

I don't have this exact machine, but have had one similar to it. I looked at a pic of the machine and see two small things sticking up on the top at the far right hand side. Are they part of the bobbin winder ?

If yes, you may have to push the part with the empty bobbin mounted on it, sideways, to engage the winding mechanism.

Hope this is of help.

Needle moving while trying to load bobbin and it wont spin

I assume you are trying to wind the bobbin. Sounds like the lever is not disengaging the needle head. If you \'ve had the machine a while, you may have the part under the bobbin winding area clogged up with thread lint and gunk. Get a penlight and try to see in the slit that the bobbin holder pokes through. You may need to take the cover off. If you do, then unplug the machine, remove the cover, and move the bobbin winder on and off and watch the other levers attached to it.

I am trying to wind the bobbin following to the directions in the manual. However, when I "gently" press the foot controller to wind the thread around the bobbin, this does rotate at all. I do...

Have you disengaged the clutch? is the needle going up and down at the same time. If needle is still moving, then clutch is not disenaged. This is usually a knob inside the flywheel, or a button on the flywheel, machines will vary. Just recheck your manual and ensure that you have disenaged the drive to the needle.

Now check that the bobbin winder is engaged. On most machines, you need to move the bobbin and the spindle it sits on over against a stop to engage the bobbin winding mechanism on top of the machine.

If you have done all this and the bobbin just isn't turning on the spindle at all, then it may be the rubber ring just inside the case which drives against the flywheel, has worn out. Proper name is "Bobbin Winder Tyre".

This is a link to the part I mean http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbin-winder-tire-brother-x55238051.aspx there is no image but they look like a little black rubber ring and being rubber, they do wear, perish and crack with age.

So if you are able to open up the machine covers you may well be able to see this part and replace it yourself. Or just confirm the diagnosis. They are not expensive to replace.

Brother xl-2600 As I am sewing ( not thick material) the thread keeps breaking, also over seams it is not sewing through. Then, when my bobbin ran out, went to change it and when pulling the needle down...

try changing the top thread tension to 3 or 4

also rethread the machine just in case the thread is hung up somewhere

take the bobbin out & put the bobbin in reverse of what you did before

you said you changed the needle, check to make sure it in correctly,, the flat side goes to the back of the machine, push it all the way up before tightening the screw

I have xl-2600 model bobbin winding not working what to do

If the winder is on the top of the machine and it is not turning it is either a flat spot on the winder rubber, or the winder has seized, the best way to fix it if it has seized it to put a drop of WD40 on the winder spindle so the oil seeps down, not too much though, place an electric drill over the spindle of the winder and switch on slowly and it should free off

Bobbin winder shaft won't spin. LCD says bobbin winding.

Mine stopped working too. Gave up and wound bobbins by hand for a while until I broke down and took the machine apart -- an ordeal to figure out. I found that a pliable ring on the winder was completely disintegrated (gummy plastic-like stuff). An online search found this -- a bobbin "tire" which I THINK is the part I need: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbin-winder-tire-brother-x55238051.aspx. Hope this helps. --Also cleaned all the lint out when I had the machine opened up. They don't make it EASY!

Elna Primula 410 Bobbin Winding Question

Wind the Bobbin
For the usual jobs, it is the best to use a medium sized thread.
2. Disengage the flywheel by unscrewing the coupling knob as far as it will go.

3. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder, and push the bobbin winder to the right.

4. Pull out one of the spool pins and place the spool of thread on it.

5. Pass the thread through the bobbin winder tension discs, as indicated.

6. Wind the end of the thread around the bobbin by hand, in the direction indicated.

7. Wind the bobbin, at a medium speed by pressing lightly with a finger on the spool so as to stretch the thread better and thus fill the bobbin to a maximum. The full bobbin stops automatically.

8. Re-engage the flywheel by tightening the coupling knob.

9. Cut the thread and remove the bobbin from the bobbin winder by pushing the latter to the left.
