They are threaded in and above the cylinder head(s) depending on which car you have. They could be underneath individual coil packs or engine covers, hidden from plain view. Or, they will be located on the end of each spark plug wire, if your car has a distributor.
ON TOP OF ENGINE IN CYLINDER HEADS YOUR IGNITION COILS ON TOP OF SPARK PLUGS REMOVE THE ENGINE TOP COVER YOU WILL SEE COIL PACKS ON SPARK PLUGS.YOU NEED A LONG SPARK PLUG SOCKET TO REMOVE SPARK PLUGS.
