Question about Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera

1 Answer

Missing photos Hi, IF photos were there and are not showing up, is there a way to look at the camera's internal memory in case they are still there? How do I switch between the camera internal memory and the memory card to find my missing photos? I took my first 6 photos. Went home, loaded the software on my laptop. All working fine. Before connecting the camera I successfully viewed the photos on the LCD and pushed a few camera buttons (not the trash can!) and could not find the photos. Is there a way to delete them accidentally without hitting the trash can button. Even if that button is hit, isn't there a verify prompt before deleting them? I took 2 new ones and successfully transferred them.

The camera has no internal memory.

If you hit the format button, you will lose images without warning. I am not sure if this is what you did, but if you really need the images, stop using the card for the moment and try some data recovery software:

www.z-a-recovery.com it's free and effective.

Hope this helps!

I can see 922 photos on the camera but but when I try to download them only 537 photos show up - plus a bunch of files with weird symbols only. How can I download the missing photos? I tried both plug

I'm not at all familiar with this camera, but some cameras I've used (and cell phones, GPS units, etc.) store photos in two places: the camera's internal memory and the additional memory card (the SD card you speak of), and may require that you specifically identify where to locate the files. Try connecting the camera to your computer, and using Windows Explorer, find the camera, then scout around to see if you can find a folder for the SD Card, and a separate folder for the camera's internal memory. Mark down these pathways and go back to whatever photo-keeping software you use (something that came with the camera, perhaps?) and make sure that both folders are being located. Hope this helps.

How do i access the photos stored in the internal memory, not on the memory card?

If you remove the memory card, the camera will show you the photos stored in internal memory and allow you to delete them.

If you want to copy the pictures from internal memory to a memory card, put in a memory card and then select "Copy" from the Playback menu.

I have a Fiji Finepix Z20fd camera, and have approx 350 photos on the memory. Yesterday the message "memory full" appeared when i tried to take a photo so naturally i attempted to delete a some to make...

Having pics on both the internal memory and a memory card is asking for trouble. Take out the card and download the internal memory to your computer. Then, go into the menu and find "format" and erase the internal memory. Then, download all the pics from the memory card using a separate card reader. Then, insert the card into the camera and do the format thing again to erase and optimize the card. Now you have a fresh start...never use the internal memory again.

Unreconized file format and also says interal memory full

Internal memory is full as you have been saving pictures there rather than your card. Have you checked those are not your missing photos?
Get a new sd card for your camera-I keep 3 cards for mine so that I don't need to delete anything for ages. I back up all photos to pc. The photos on your internal memory can be copied onto your new sd card when you insert it. When you are certain they are on the card AND backed up on the pc then you can delete them from the internal memory.Try mrnu>image storage. On your internal memory there will be an option to copy the photos to a card when you have one in your camera. Do check the internal memory-it is full of pictures-they may be the ones you want!

Had exact same problem. Here the solution:
Choose playback, then "Mode" button will bring you Slide show options menu. Navigate to Image/Sound Copy Item.
You'll find options to copy from/to internal memory/flash card there
