There is a very loud knocking noise when we run the dryer. It starts up immediately, and doesnt go away until we turn it off. We cleaned the fan mechanism, but that didnt help any.. any thoughts?

Our dryer is making a horrible noise! we replaced the motor and the problem is still happening. It is extremely hot and humid when the dryer is running. we think the noise is coming from the blower???

If it is hot and humid when you run the dryer, then the exhaust tube has come loose from the back of the dryer, or you have a hole in the vent hose. Basically what is happening is the moist air that is supposed to travel outside is backing up into your house. No cause for alarm right now since the steam is harmless, But over time, the hummidity might cause a mold problem if it not addressed. I'm looking for answers on loud dryers so I cant answer your second part, but I'll bet its a belt issue.

My dryer starts the first time with no problem, but after about an hour it starts to make a kind of buzzing sound. If I don't shut it off at this point it shuts itself off after another minute or two....

You are absolutely correct that the motor is the problem and needs to be replaced. The motor is overheating and its thermal overload protector trips off causing the dryer to shut down. Thermal overload protector resets and allows the motor to run again only when it has cooled down. It is the reason why the dryer is not turning on immediately after it shuts off. Replacing the motor will definitely solve the problem.

If you are having the same problem I had, the motor gets hot and shuts off. My motor was making a fairly loud noise when I cut it on. It would run for a minute or two and then shut off. I had to replace the motor. Motors are fairly cheap and not that hard to install. I paid $50 for a new one on ebay including shipping.

Hot Point electric dryer squeaking when in use.

It could be one of the pulleys on the bottom of the drum. Take the top and front panels off of the dryer. Get some WD-40. Now the hard part, there is no easy way, but put your right arm in underneath the drum (the right side of the drum)and spray the pulley the best you can. This is the hardest, but the easiest way to fix this problem, without having to take the entire dryer and drum apart. I had the similar problem. I didn't completely fix the problem, but the squeak has been significantly quieted.

My Mag neptune dryer shows HP and stops drying

Hi again mssunnybunny,
I just thought of something,
You did not give a lot of details so pose this question just in case!

You only said, Your Mag Neptune dryer shows HP and stops drying!!!!!!!!!!!

1.Does it go but not get hot and not drying??

2.Or does your dryer not go and then make a loud humming sound like it's trying to go??.

If # 2 is the description and this was the case, then you need
a new motor!

Dryer running to hot

well it would help to know the brand but one thing to check is, turn timer on to timed cycle and open door, push door switch in and wait to see if heater comes on. If it does replace element. clean your vent and replace thermostat if element is ok.
