I purchased a vison 19" monitor about a year ago model number v193WDB with DVI input and I am having problems with it. It starts up fine and works for a while then it goes dark. If I restart my computer it will work again for a few minutes then go dark again. It happens regularly and its very frustrating. Unfortunately Frys warranty is no longer valid and naturally right after the warranty expires the unit starts acting up. Any ideas as to what might cause this and how I can fix it or have it fixed? Please assist asap with info or someone who can help me. Regards, Dave

Welcome to the world of disposable LCD monitors. I got one of these at Fry's, but have had no problem except that it won't accept HDMI input from my DVR.
Check the screen after it blacks using a flashlight to see if you can see the actual information displayed. The LCD is backlit with CCFL - cold cathode fluorescent light - tubes located at the sides or the top/bottom. They can go bad, and over draw the inverter, or the inverter, which converts ~12vdc to ~10,000Vac, can have capacitors which are low quality and are drying out, changing their value.
So, open the display up by un-snapping the plastic cover, removing the screws holding the metal support to the backside of the display, and then the back cover. Most have snap-together bezels that can be separated by using a thumbnail between the two pieces. You should then be able to inspect the power supply, inverter, and display logic board. Look for capacitors that have drooled or have their tops puffed up. Those are signs of failure.
Let me know what you find.

I have a 19 inch Gateway HD monitor. The model number is LP1925. When I boot up everything is normal. However, after about 5 minutes the screen goes black. I can't get the picture back unless I pull out...

I see that this monitor has a DVI input, in additon to the VGA input. I suggest getting a suitable cable to use the DVI input, to see if the fault replicates. If it doesn't, you have identified the problem - an issue with the analogue signal processeing circuitry in either the monitor or the computer. The monitor's auto sleep analogue circuitry, for example, may not be sensing a signal, and going to sleep. BTW, if you use a DVI-DVI cable, you avoid the video signal ever going through an analogue stage, and the image will also be purer.

Can Mac OS10.6 snow leopard support HW 191or is there a driver available

Monitors rarely have drivers, aside from color profiles. It is the computer itself which is responsible for feeding standard data to the monitor and as a result any monitor which accepts the correct input (VGA, DVI etc) should work fine.

Due to the monitor only being 19 inches, you will not have any complications regarding different specification DVI, so I need not go into it.

Vison flat 19" hooked to toshiba laptop w/Vista no signal

Can't say I really "fixed" the problem. I tried other monitors, DVI cord and took the laptop to a repair shop. Nothing worked. And then....boom.....it worked! No one knows why or how. No one did anything to the computer or monitor. It just works. Who knows how long it will work, but it works today.
