SOURCE: bad amplifier need help!!!!

I had the same amp! It is the JL 300/4 and one of the chanels came in really fuzzy. It sounded as if the the wires were touching during my installation. I called JL and a JL authorized dealer it would have costed me 190 dollars total to get the amp fixed. Instead I opened up the amp to see if anything looked out of the ordinary. When you open the amp, see if the green fuse looking things are aligned. If they are not aligned then straighten them out. I think they had gotten out of place from being dropped becaue I baught my amp used. My amp works perfectly now!

SOURCE: i need an override code to unlock my kicker sx700.4 amplifier

you will have to call Kicker, and let them know the serial number, and explain the problem to them. cause there is no generic code for that amp. they will have it in the computer at kicker.

Trying to use apa450 on a pair of 4 ohm jlwo subs front channel has boss boost switch & hi pass switch only?

yes. this is not a jl audio amp. and does not give you the option to choose hi and/or low pass on the front side.

of course, you know the assumption is made that you'll drive the front amp through mid-range and tweets and the rear amp through your W0's.

you can however,
a. turn off the xover so you get the full range sent to your W0's.
b. then it would be easy to place an in-line low-pass coil so your subs only see frequencies below he cutoff range you choose.

its a pretty common electronics store/Radio Shack item, just a few bucks too.

There is static when I turn on the power

Is there static when the volume is all the way down?

What if you unplug any component that's going to the amp?...Does the static go away?

Amplifier loads

Hello ronnieyannon,
A single 4 ohm speaker wired to each channel, like you have them wired, presents a 4 ohm load. And it appears that you have them connected properly. The 401s is only stable to 4 ohms when bridged, so if you were to parallel the 2 4 ohm subs in bridged mode, the load would be 2 ohms and the amp would most likely overheat and go into protection.

I'd wire them the way you have them wired.

Each channel of the amp outputs only 100 watts into 4 ohms. That is adequate for regular full-range speakers, component speakers, mid-range drivers, and even some small subs. But it is a little low on power for most subwoofer applications.

Hope this helps.

Monster MPA 5150SS

Might be a failing semiconductor component (usually an old transistor) in the amplifier's front end. This caused by the oxidation through the component legs or pin. I usually touch and move each transistor's body to exaggerate the noise. You can research also what kind of noise is it producing- intermittent, static, etc.
hope this helps..
