My problem is this , after casting and I'm reeling in ,the spool won't lock in place. help...... I've gone back 3 times reversed(turned over) the friction washers, but nothing works. the reel is very smooth now, but I can't figure this out.. SOURCE: penn fishing reels

Hi,

For a Penn GTO 220, pls check this page an exploded view of the GTO220 that details parts and their placement. It is a PDF file and would need Abobe Acrobat Reader to view and print.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Penn Spin Reel will not lock after casting

On the front of the spool there is a device to turn to set the drag. Torn it tighter and tighten it until slightly below the breaking point of your fishing line. It isn't a critical adjustment, it just keeps your line from breaking while trying to land a fish.

Old Penn 209 level wind not turning but spool works is there a part missing ??

There are many small parts within the reel itself and something may have gotten dislodged or someone may have taken it apart and not put it back together properly. There are exploded parts diagrams available at www.pennreels.com to assist you, but they can be very difficult to read. If you take your reel apart, be VERY VERY careful not to lose anything, especially a very small spring that holds the ratchet lock (dog) in place.

Require a diagram to assemble 330GTI reel. Reel disassembled as drag not functioning properly

Here you go!
330 GTi Schematic
Make sure the drag plates and drag washers go in correctly or the drag will not work very well.
If you are using braided superline, make sure there is monofilament backing under the line otherwise the braided line will slip on the spool arbor, tricking you into thinking the drag is shot.
Best of luck!

The Drag on my 750ss does not work what could be the problem?

This happens after you screw the drag too tight so that the plastic washer under the spool is pressed out. The fix is simple: cut excess of that washer and tighten properly.

My Penn 114H cant't tighten drag, only to 12 lbs ,when I tighten the I can pull the line at 12 lbs

Call customer service.

Your drag is either worn or it is assembled improperly.

When I need parts or service, I call penn directly. They are the best reels out there as far as I'm concerned. And most of them are made in USA and backed by Penn.

It is the only reel that I care to fish with
