SOURCE: Generator doesn't excite with small power tools.

Somewhere on the Generator is an Idle Control switch, turning this to the off position will stop the generator idling down in the first place. You'll need to do this to use tools that don't draw enough current to trip the idle control system into revving the engine.
It may say just how much current you have to draw in the manual (hint, hint).

SOURCE: generator runs producing no power

Hi, remove the electric control panel & check the wiring as sometimes we have seen the wires coming off the voltage change over switches.
Also some of these units you can check the connections in the rear of the alternator & if it has brushes that they are not stuck.
Another problem we have had is the trip switches have went faulty but still switch operates ok, they need to be checked with a probe type tester for conductivety.

You need to trace out the power wires the come out of the genset. They will end up on a breaker. With a volt meter measure both sides of the breaker. If one side has voltage and the other side doesn't, then your breaker is opened. Press the breaker in closed to see if it actually closes. If it don't then you will need a breaker. However, if no voltage is being produced, it is possible that the voltage regulator let go.

remove the covering panel and expose the internals , check for loose/disscontected push on ( lucar ) connectors , if these are fine it is most likely the excitation capacitor is deffective , replace with exactly the same value/voltage rating/duty cycle . the capacitor is usual 1 or up to 3 cylindrical tubes with 2 wires comming from them , always take a note of exactly what wires you have taken off :) hope this helps

6260 isn't a model number for any Ingersoll Rand generator.

Generally, though, if you have a generator that generates 50Hz and you want it to produce 60Hz instead, you adjust the governor to increase engine running speed by 20%... if the engine will tolerate that speed. The first thing you need to do is find out what speed the engine runs when it's under normal load. If that speed can't safely be increased 20%, then the generator head has been built strictly for 50Hz and there's nothing you can do about it except run a UPS between the generator and your load.

If the engine speed IS low enough to safely increase by 20%, then that's what you do.

Oil seperator

Get the model and serial number located to the right side of the fuel tank 1/2 way up on the radiator and call someone who deals in Ingersoll rand (now Doosan). If you remove the old one you can read the numbers off the bottom of it.

There should be a tag on the radiator of who the radiator manufacturer is and they should be able to supply you with a replacement or try contacting an Ingersoll Rand distributor for help

Your generator should be running @ 1800 rpm if its diesel . I have a 40 kw diesel generator and it starts up and runs a full 1800 rpm with no load . Thats how there designed because they have a 4 pole alternator. Hope this helps.

Ingersoll-Rand G25 generator had been operating normally. Output stopped today with generator running and 120/240V breaker closed. Continuity test shows a short between ground/neutral and A phase with...

A ground to neutral short should not stop the machine and may be how the breaker panel was wired. Single phase 240 volt power just has two hot lines and the neutral just center taps the transformer winding supplying the 240 volts. The twin breakers that supply this voltage, should both trip even if only one line has a short on it. Check the resistance of L1 and L2 lines to neutral that feed the motor with the breakers off. Each should read nearly equal resistance which usually is only a few ohms when correct. Make sure the motor turns freely by hand as a locked compressor can certainly pop the breakers. If the compressor appears locked, remove the cylinder head(s) and try to turn again. If still locked, one of the connecting rods may have broken in the crankcase. The other problem could be a broken valve assembly in a head. If the motor has a capacitor start and/or run capacitor, it can cause a breaker trip because the motor cannot start with a defective capacitor. Hope some of this helps!
