Question about Philips SPC 1000NC/00 Webcam
Try a different USB port. Try a powered USB hub (this camera can require more power than some ports provide). Check if the camera works on another computer (with the correct drivers installed). If it does work, continue with the steps below. If it doesn't work, unfortunately the camera isn't easily repairable. (The USB cable could have a damaged wire but you would need to fix it by desoldering the old one and soldering a new one. You would need to know the initial wire configuration before putting on the new one. Otherwise it is something wrong elsewhere on the board)
Enter the Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager (for XP, it is similar for other Win OS versions). Scroll down to the USB controllers. Try to update the driver for this (right click and choose Update driver or double click and click Update driver).
Uninstall the current camera driver (including those for other cameras). Run a program like CCleaner.exe (scan for issues and then fix issues). http://www.ccleaner.com/ for this program which cleans the registry and other things. Download and install the latest driver for the Phillips webcam. http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?tmplt=ePlatform%20-%20Philips&scy=GB&slg=ENG&sct=WEBCAMS_SU&cat=WEBCAM_HEADSETS_CA&session=20101011130443_188.8.131.52&grp=PC_AND_PHONES_GR&ctn=SPC1000NC/00&mid=Link_Software&hlt=Link_Software .
I hope this helps.
