Hi,

when you try to dial up to to the dsl network what happens and do you see the two monitors in your task bar at the bottom right hand corner of the screen if you do not then this means the driver for your network card i missing so you would have download it from your computr manufacturers websites support and if you do see the two computers this means that everything is ok but you are gonna need internet explorer, mozilla firefox or opea mini to access the internet. so you may have to let someone download it for you from a site such as www.google.com.

please rate me. thank you.

Troubleshooting DSL Modems

Ever look at your DSL Modem and wonder what all those lights mean? Why do some flash, while others remain solid? What if your lights are different colors? How do you tell if your DSL Modem is working correctly?<br /> <br /> Each light on your DSL Modem represents a function. The light is an indication of whether that function is working properly. Sometimes the placement and title of each function can vary by modem manufacturer, but they are pretty standard in interpetation. If you look closely your modem, you might find that each function is labeled in small print to help identify them.<br /> <br /> A standard DSL Modem has a light for power, internet, ethernet, link and wireless connection. A healthy DSL Modem will have a steady green light that does not blink or flutter for all features other than internet, ethernet and wireless. A flashing or fluttering light indicates movement and useage. When you are connected to your DSL Modem wireless, the light for this feature will blink indicating a connection and/or active useage. If the internet connection is working properly the color of the light will be green. If the connection is working but experincing a problem the light can turn to yellow or orange. If the connection fails, the light on the DSL Modem can be red or absent depending on the problem causing the trouble. If your service is turned off by the provider, more than likely the light will be "off".<br /> <br /> If your lights turn a different color, are absent or your internet connection fails try power cycling your modem before reporting the trouble to your provider. Power cycling helps the DSL Modem to reset its connection and repair your internet services.<br /> <br /> If you are using a DSL Modem alone to connect to the internet (no additional router) you can power cycle it by first turning off your computer and then unplug the modem itself from the power source at the wall. Wait for 1 to 2 minutes and then plug it back into the power source and wait for the warm up to finish before rebooting the pc.<br /> <br /> The DSL Modem should go through the normal warm up procedures of blinking lights, making them all stable and solid green ect. You will know when its finished warming up when the features are set at solid green (other than eithernet, internet and wireless connection as explained above). When the modem finished the warm up, reboot your computer and check your internet connection.<br /> <br /> Power cycling your DSL Modem can help keep your connection healthy and running at optimal speeds.<br />

No internet

Power cycling can resolve about 86% of most disconnections from the Internet.
  1. Shut down your computer
  2. Unplug power cable to router (wired or wireless)
  3. Unplug power cable to DSL/cable modem
  4. Count to 10 seconds
  5. Plug power cable into DSL/cable modem
  6. Count to 7 seconds
  7. Plug power cable into router
  8. Boot your computer.
  9. Count 10 seconds then try to visit web site by opening up IE or some other Internet browser.

I just recieved my Siemens Gigaset SE587 WLAN dsl router and i set it up but the only light coming on is the power light,is the router faulty or damaged?

Are all the cables connected correctly?
Are the DSL settings in?

If it's only the power light, and no WLAN, LAN, DSL or Internet lights on, it sounds like it may be faulty. Is it brand new or second hand?

Lost internet connection. I use BT Voyager 190 ADSL modem on AOL with WIndows Vista. Power and Thernet indicator lights are on solid, but DSL and Internet indicators are off.

Sounds like there is a issue with your phone line. The DSL indicator is the phone line. Check to see if you have a dial tone or if a message is on the phone you haven't listen too, if you have message service. Try unplugging all phone connections as and replug them in again. You also might need a filter for your DSL to phone line. Also if you have an alarm that is monitoring your system, you need to by pass alarm and use a filter.

My DSL is Too Slow, could it involve my phone lines?

Hello there.

It sounds like your computer might be infected with something, you should not be getting popups in this day and age :)

I would suggest 2 things, firstly you can avoid most of the problems on the Internet by using a safer web browser, either Firefox or Opera is much safer than using the included browser Internet Explorer6/7.

The second thing would be to run an online virus, trojan, spyware scanner such as housecall . This runs in your web browser and does not conflict with any antivirus installed on the computer, let it scan your computer and when its done it should remove anything found.

Doing this and using another web browser should speed up your computer which in turn should speed up your internet hopefully.

In firefox you can even install a plugin call 'adblock filter updater' which not only blocks adverts but stops them from even loading, this should speed up your connection some.

Try this and let us know.
Hope this helps.

Computer remote access

For remote access I like to use a free solution from Logmein http://www.logmein.com works really well and is web based. You can also use software installed programs like VNC or tightVNC. The logmein solution is nice because again as said it is free, browser based access (need to install small software on computer attempting to be controlled), and hardly any configuring needs to be done.

I have tried to replace my dsl modem with a wireless modem router (thompson speedtouch 585) using aol. After dissconnecting the old modem I followed the step by step instructions supplied by aol.All seemed...

Try contacting the DSL provider, if not All-Operatingsystems-Lost.
U may try Start-controlpanel-network connections-local area connection-properties
Ensure correct card under connect using.
click on configure.
click on advanced.
reset to auto detect
click ok
reboot
There are sometimes issues with the PPPOE. the DSL provider should be able to resolve this.
