Do not move the xbox 360 while the disc is inside and playing. Try not to stand the unit vertically just do it horizontally.

Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but a professional disc repair service is normally required to fix laser burn scratches or damage to XBOX discs.

Grandson put two discs in at the same time...got them out but now the console doesn't work

Hello alanobrien89 and welcome to FixYa. Here are a few solutions that may help you. You may want to make there are no discs in the Wii and turn the console off for a couple moments. Next restart the console and insert the disc to see if the issue is rectified. If your grandson insertd one disc after another as opposed to two discs overlapped at the same time there is a possibility the disc motor or laser lens could have been pushed or otherwise damaged which would require service from Nintendo. Give what I suggested a shot a few times and if that does'nt seem to work you'll have to contact Nintendo. It is possible to repair it yourself however it requires knowledge of the hardware and special screwbits also known as a gamebit. Here is Nintendos Customer support number in the event my solution does not work. 1-800-255-3700 The best of luck to you.

General Maintenance for Xbox 360.

Just some general maintenance tips for your xbox 360.
1. Making sure to leave the box flat on the ground as when put standing up it can shake and cause damage to discs.
2. Never ever move your xbox while a disc is running inside. This will usually result in the disc being damaged.
3. Keep the xbox in a well ventilated place. Overheating can occur if your not careful.
4. Ensure the xbox is free from dust especially around the vents as again this can cause over heating.

Thanks and hope these tips are useful!

Why wont my xbox 360 elite read discs? i put disc in and it comes up reading and then open tray

My only questions are does the console say the discs are damaged in any way? and is the console standing up right?
If the discs are scratched in any way then that might cause the 360 to not read the disc and sometimes having a console play the disc upright (example of upright 360) for a long time can cause dis function when trying to play discs, so try playing the discs with the console on its side (side example) These are my solutions to the problem but you can try these: Solution 1 Solution 2

I am getting a ring around my games and it's causing them to not work. why is this happening

DON'T PLAY ANYMORE GAMES this is cause by the disc reader being to close to the disc and burning it it costs about £2.50 $5, it can be caused by moving the console while it is turned on. To try and fix this change the position E.G if it is horizontal change it to vertical and vice versa

Damaged Games

Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs. Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating “Disc Read Error” or something to that effect. Best remedy for starters, is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. A common problem that Xbox owners are reporting is if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.
Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally required to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

Check the “More Info” & “FAQ” Sections for further details on disc repairs and related matters.

If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the discs is in play, the games console itself may require repair.
You should contact Microsoft for assessment and guidelines.

Hope this Helps!!

Grandson put a ds game into the Wi where the disc

Does this unit have a tiny hole, similar to those found on CD or DVD drives, which allows the insertion of a large paper clip?

By pushing a straightened out paper clip into this hole, you can push with a certain amount of force, which will then allow the drive to open, and from there, you might be able to remove the disk from the ds game.

Good Luck,
-a.

Xbox 360 elite, call of duty 4 fault

Hi Jake,
Yhe only thing noticable here, is that the 360 elite has the 60 gig hard-drive instead of the Standard 20 gig, as fitted with the white 360. perhaps you might be able to try a 20 gig hard-drive on the box. May work, worth a shot. i,d also check microsofts site, for any game updates or patches for the game itself.

hope this helps ya buddy.

p.s plenty of people would be willing to trade your elite for a standard white 360. this would be another alternative.
