Question about Toshiba Portege S100-S1133 Notebook

1 Answer

My Toshiba portege R 500 wont turn on until I remove the cmos battery, main battery and mains power. If I power it on again It gives the rtc battery error and prompts me to press f1, Pressing F1 gives me a blank screen but the back-light is on. After this it cannot power on again until I remove the power and battery and back again. It prompts me to press F1 even when I put the CMOS back and pressing F1 takes me back to the hanging with a black screen. The battery reads 2.75V. could this be the problem? Please assist

According to Toshiba Support the remedy is to connect the laptop to the ac adaptor and plug in to wall outlet. Then turn it on and leave it on for 24 hours while the rtc battery charges.

Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. Turn it over, open it up, and look for a little watch battery.

Hp nx 6110 a power-on-password

Hi, try this:
- unplug from mains
- remove laptop battery
- remove real-time clock (CMOS) battery.
- wait 5 minutes
- replace the RTC battery and then
plug in - without the laptop battery.
The laptop battery cannot be present
when you remove the RTC battery
and shouldn't be there when you power on.
Try

Toshiba

You need to unplug the cmos battery, wait a few minutes, the plug it back in.
This battery in inside the laptop and is a small green cell plugged into the main board itself.
Do not have the main battery or ac hooked to it if you do this, or it will not reset.
