Cleaned Out Pump

Yes, I pulled the pump and did not notice anything clogged. The impellar is somewhat free, but I noticed the after trying to run the machine the motor is super hot. You can't touch the housing. I took it off and it stayed hot for nearly an hour or so. I went ahead and ordered it. No one locally has it or has ever ordered one. I contacted 3 or 4 appliance parts center. I am hoping that the washer doesn't cycle properly, because there is some sort of water level sensor sending signal that washer has water. I drained the water and still can get it to cycle. Expensive experiment $137.00 for pump. I noticed many people seem to have the same problem with this machine. My wife wanted a front loader, didn't want to spend the big bucks so I bought used from a couple moving. She will never let me here the end of it, until I get this fixed.

Recieved the pump today.. Installed and everything works great. I will definately keep a eye on the clean out... GE needs to send all the customers a cover plate that doesn't hide the clean-out. I don't plan to put my plate back on. It is ugly, but I won't burn up another pump....

Sweet tip, goingbamboo - exact same motor, different housing, only $60 shipped by fedex ground from repairclinic.com.

so i had the exact same problem. two newborn socks, one which appeared (smelled) like it was there for quite some time, 3 quarters, and some odd lint. for the life of me i can't figure out how the socks get from the drum down the tube!

word of warning - if there is visible water in the drum, there can be a *lot* of water when you unscrew the filter cap.

oh, and we have also been noticing rips in our clothes (like another poster). worthless machine.

If you should run into problems again with that pump, there is a way around the $137.00 replacement cost. You can order the pump for one of the top loader machines (here is a part # WH23X10013). They use the same motor. There are 3 screws to remove the motor. The top loader setup is considerably less expensive. And if you trust ebay, you can get the motor for $45 shipped to your door in about 3 days.
For mine, the issue was one of my son’s newborn socks made its way into the drain and clogged the filter. I have had this machine 2 years and love it. This is the first problem we have had.

most likely you have a bad pump and it needs to be changed out or something is still stuck in the impellar, stick your finger into the pump and feel around the impellar,i've found under bra metal pieces stuck in there, elastics and string rapped around it and coins lodged in between the impellar and wall of the pump,if the pump is bad or something is stopping the impellar from spinning it will hum, power is going to the pump but the motor isn't spinning.

Hello all I have been getting the F21 error code (seems to be a popular error) I cleand the drain on the pump as I was cleaning debris out i noticed the motor impellar was cracked so I replaced it. ...

My WAG would be yes, something is still in the drain line. Especially since enough debris has been through it to crack your impellar.

Have you tried running a guitar string up to see if you can dislodge any blocks.

Hello. I have a front load automatic washer. During the normal wash cycle the error code "F02" (drain problem) will come on. According to the manual it tells me to check the drain hose for kinks,...

You will need to remove the front or rear panel so you can get to the drain pump itself and check the hoses that come from the bottom of the tub to the pump.
you may need to remov eth hose from the pump to lool inside and see it there is something restricting the impellar wheel.

some unit's have an access panel on the front of the machine to clean out the drain pump. you will need to have a wet dry shop vac handy to **** up any water that will come out of the machine.or a bunch of towels.one you gain access to the pump and make sure everything is clear then you should be able to run the unit normally.

if you do not find anything wrong in the drain pump you may need to replace the pump but that could be a last resort.

Good luck this should solve your problem,Please rate this answer.

F02 light flashing during every rinse

If you have noticed water isnt draining, that almost certainly will be the problem. Depending where in the program the problem starts so will the different error codes appear. Remove pump and clean the contents at the impellar., then retry.

Kenmore Elite HE4T not spinning and draining

The only way to access the imperller is remove the coin tray (unscrews and pulls out) and the hole into the pump on the right side will have the impeller right there..The pump itself shouldn't be taken apart. It may not seal up correctly.

Drain pump

You may have a problem with the pump vane not properly spinning on the drain pump shaft.  If you take out the drain pump and spin the vane in either direction, you should feel a resistance every time you turn it.  If you able to turn the vane one way and do not feel the resistance for at least half a turn, you may need to replace the drain pump.

Won't do anything

This is another possible solution, more than likely most people will expierience clogs. I had the same problem today, upon removing the drain pump I noticed one of the dark blue wires was off of the connector that plugs into the pump, seems these are held in place by a "splice connector", and is a simple fix, after you unplug it from the drain pump take the connector and pull from the front and rear to open the splice jaws, re insert the wire and push back together. Plug it back into the pump, and that's it!

Water not draining

I have the same problem....
I've pulled the pump area apart more times than I care to mention...usually I find a quarter or a nickel....I pull it out and that helps...but still the same prob.
i noticed alot of "buildup on the pump propellor shaft...lint, etc...cleaned that to no avail...
replaced the pump....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt....
I pulled the panel apart (front contro panel) and see that the pump is geting 120V to it...so it isnt a switch or relay..
i'm thinkning it may be the water level sensor having a ton of build up on it...maybe flagging the computer to stop pumping...

any other peole with possible solutions....?

How to clean pump

If you can turn the impellar on the pump with your hand and it runs freely, then the pump is ok. You should maybe look at the hose that leads to the drain pump from the drum, or the drain hose that goes from the pump to the sink/tub. It may be clogged with lint. Remove the drain hose from the spigot under the sink/tub and check the spigot. It too may be clogged. It is not possible to get into the pump. It is a sealed unit, unless you are able to unscrew the impellar from the motor shaft to check underneath it.
