Question about Coby Audio Players & Recorders

8 Answers

I have a Coby CX-CD114 personal CD player. Does anyone know what type of connector is used for the 4.5V DC input ? I have a universal AC/DC Adapter but nothing fits this socket. Can I get a suitable Adapter on-line ? I've tried contacting Coby but got no response.

    Doesn't really answer my question.

  • postmaste450 Oct 11, 2010

I need a UK 240V 3-pin outlet. Sorry, put that in my original query but it didn't come through.

  • postmaste450 Oct 11, 2010

Nothing there for a CX-CD114. Are all Coby AC/DC adapters suitable for 110V / 240 V ? Their documentation is very poor !

  • postmaste450 Oct 12, 2010

Yes, already seen this. Doesn't tell me anything other than the fact the CD Player has a 4.5V DC input. No spec on the type of connector or where I can get an Adapter. Or what the spec is on the Adapter. As I said, pretty poor documentation.

Have them on Amazon where ? I can't find it. The link is to a 2-pin US to 3-pin UK mechanical converter. Does the Colby Adapter accept a 240V input ?

  • postmaste450 Oct 12, 2010

This Adapter is powered from a car. I want one I can play at home. In the UK.

  • postmaste450 Oct 12, 2010

What is a "cross type ac/dc adapter which has 4 connectors on it" ? Who makes it ? What is the spec ? What is the model number ?

  • postmaste450 Oct 12, 2010

I refer to my original query. I have bought a universal AC/DC adapter. None of the connectors mechanically fit this CD player. It is obviously a proprietry fitting. Or is it ? I just want someone to tell me. Because I can't get any information out of Coby.

I would get a universal AC/DC adapter online through Ebay or even go to Walmart or Radio Shack (as a last resort).

Radio Shack should have the plug for your Coby and they will let you try it out there, I am sure.
I used to work for Radio Shack in the 1990s, and I still believe they have a wide variety of AC/DC Adapter plugs of which one will probably fit for your application.

Good luck to you on getting it to work right.

Anything refering to DC "direct current" is a power connector, now you can purchase a universal AC adaptor that will adapt to this unit and power it using DC "direct currect". You can purchase these at radio shack or any eletronics specialty store.

Hope this does help any questons please use the reply to expert or Accept button for my efforts, Thanks

Hi! I strongly suggest that you get the cross type ac/dc adapter which has 4 connectors on it that will fit the unit. You can buy this in any local electronics or gadgets store. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

I have connected an adapter of 4.5V with Sony Walkman, i am receiving an error "HI DC IN". Let me know the problem.

hi,
check the out put voltage of that adapter may be its out put is higher than 4.5V dc.
thats why the Walkman displays HI dc IN. do one thing purchase a 4.5V 1amps SMPS adapter (connector with same polarity). it will give a constant output of 4.5v (110v t0 240v input)
ok
