Unrecognized ink cartridge

The problem with generic print cartridges are they are hit and miss. Every time you replace a cartridge ideally you should replace the print head with a new one ( little metal connector on the cartridge). When using a generic cartridge the print head isn't new nor original and the printer may realise this depending on the print head condition.

another point to watch is, using generic cartridges void your printer warranty, assuming its in warranty. Generic cartridges are a quick fix but not reliable.

How do I resolve an incompatible ink cartridge message?

First, remove the cartridge, if not already done. Second, go into the printer properties and cancel any "pending" print jobs. Third, either unplug the printer or find a reset button (sometimes holding the power button resets the printer to it's factory settings). When doing this, most (if not all {new/newer} printers come with a disc that has a calibration and alignment program that is installed when installing the printer. Four, if unplugging or "resetting" the printer does not work, un-install the printer and then re-install it. After un-installing it, follow the direction for installation as you did when you first installed it. Also, make sure that all compatible cartridges are in the printer. If even one cartridge is missing, when installing, the printer will give you the same, or similar message for the missing cartridge. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Hp color laserjet cp1215 printer: event log error: Black e-label missing Number = 5 code = 10.1000

Each toner cartridge has a small electronic chip attached to it, to feed info to the printer about each cartridge, i.e. how much toner is left. If this is a new cartridge return it to HP, or the place where you bought it. It is either missing the e-label or it is not working. If it is an old cartridge, get it replaced.

I changed all the ink cartridges and my printer says cartridge is missing or damaged. Went to the store and bought another ink cartridge but it still says the same thing?

Lift the top of the printer as if you are going to replace cartridges. When the print head comes into view you should see a grey lever on the right hand side. Lift it and reseat it. That worked for me!

Still tells me to replace cartridges I've already replaced!

press the cartridge change button and wait for printer to go to the right position. take carts out and blow hard into the cartridge holder. this should get rid of any dust in there, you can also try cleaning the chips with a dry soft cloth.(never touch with bare hands as this will damage the chips perminatly)

Hope this helps you.

since you have bought the printer second hand, you will probably not have the installation disc which contains the drivers ( software to run it ) ..... and this is more likely to be your problem rather than only the cartridge/s ...don't worry drivers are available as free downloads, here is one such link for you

Nothing wrong with the printer. The rubbish cartridge you bought and replace it with one that works. Approx 30% of most compatible/refilled cartridges DO NOT WORK.

Not only that but they WILL block your print head nozzles eventually. Ever wonder why Epson do NOT make any flushing cartridges but almost every compatible "maker" does??

99% sure the cart is at fault. return it to where you bought it and get a swap.

If the contacts are different, then you may have bought a damaged cartridge, or just simply the wrong cartridge and this would explain why your printer cannot recognise the cartridge. Make sure you bought the same number Lexmark cartridge as the old one. Return it to the store as a damaged cartridge if it is the exact same cartridge. Lexmark would not change the design of a working cartridge to exclude customers from using a printer.
