May be the glass is dirty

If you have cleaned the scanner glass and you still get the same thing, there is a possibility that you may have scanner malfunction.

To verify, try this: Access maintenance mode once again by pressing Menu * 2864, after it enters maintenance mode press 82. Reply back to me with the code that shows on your display. I will then respond to you with the status of your machine.

Black line 1 inch wide right side ,when copies are made and faxing

Hi,
When the paper is fed through Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is is scanned before copy or fax. The scanner is fixed type and is located just below the ADF.
The lines are due to dirty scanner mirror. The printer/ scanner design is based Sheet-Fed Scanner. Open/Lift the Control Panel (scanner top )(by pulling it up from front - the area from where the paper to scan comes out). Look out for the horizontal mirror and use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to gently clean the scanner mirror, rollers etc. and enjoy clear scanning and copying!
creativetech_52.jpg
Inspect for any tron pieces of paper dirt etc.DONT USE PAPER, CHEMICALS OR ANY ABRASIVE CLOTH as it may damage the parts.
Also note that your machine can scan an image only 8.15 inches wide, regardless of how wide the paper is.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Black line is present when copying document; not

This sounds as if you have some ink/contamination on the small scaning glass that sits to either the left or right of the main glass on the copier.(Depending on the model/make)As your original is scanned over this thin piece of glass the scanning device will see any spots and this will result in a black line down the page. Please clean the glass with a soft rag.

Black line about 1 1/2 inches wide down side of faxes or copies

if your RECEIVED faxes look good, then leroyal is dead on. you will need a new CIS which stands for contact image sensor. if you have an authorized brother service center nearby, they may be able to do it for 100 to 150.00, depending on their pricing of course. if rec'd faxes are bad also, pull drum out and make sure the blue tab on top of drum is all the way to the right side, although that usually only leaves about a 1/2" black band.

Scanned image on left is cropped by a good quarter of an inch.

To get the image on the right side, Select 11" wide and the length you want. Keep the paper guides at the far ends. Insert the paper at the extreme right side and the image will appear on the right side. The left side would appear dark and You may need software to clean. If you dont have Raster Editing software, best way is to stick your image onto a white paper and scan the whole paper. Ensure that the ends are trim. ( I am assuming it is faceup scanning)

Scanning document leaves streak down right hand side

Even a single grain of dust or a single strand of hair on the scanning glass will cause the scan head to perceive ink/image where there is none. Deffinetly try cleaning the glass using a good window cleaner, and a cloth that is completely clean, or even a peice of newspaper. If the black line remains, I would suggest taking it into a service center to have the scan head itself cleaned.

Line in center of screen

if the line is about one inch wide you may have a chance that the address board has failed, if it is only 1 pixel wide then there is a really good possibility that the plasma panel itself if bad, this set had a 2 year warranty from samsung, you might want to give them a call,,they are very customer satisfaction oriented
