Try this, reboot your system and when you see the logo hit f8 a couple of times, it will bring you to a black screen with many different options. arrow down and select the one that says restore to last known good configuration and hit enter. It will bring up a list of dates and choose the date that you are sure your computer was working correctly, hit enter and your computer will reboot and if this took care of it you will now be able to successfully access windows. If this doesnt work or you do not have the option to restore please let me know and we will try step 2.

I have attempted this with my friends comp (Gateway W350) and and it does not have more than one option for "last known good configuration" and will not boot from it at all and it crashed after running Malware Bytes and will not boot up! Do you have any suggestions?

I was tranferring all my data in incredimail to a new laptop but just as it was nearly finished it froze so i left it overnight hoping it would resolve itself but it hasnt, ive just tried to close it but...

If it truly froze and there's no HDD activity, it will be OK to restart. If you're transferring from the frozen computer to another, it's just doing reads anyway. So chances of corrupting the info is low. The biggest issue you might have is deleting the partially transferred data on the second machine.

To ensure that you don't freeze up again, use Task Manager to kill any unncessary programs and services. Or restart the computer into Safe Mode with Networking.

My certified data laptop quit all of a sudden and turning it off and on or even removing the battery does not help it just goes to safe mode or open windows normal and the screen stays blank

Symptoms seem to indicate either corrupted or missing driver files (probably other corrupted files on hard drive as well).

You can boot into Safe Mode, then run Command Prompt, and type the following to try to correct corruption on the hard drive:
chkdsk c: /r

You will get a message telling you the drive is in use, and would you like to run on next restart. Type "Y" and hit enter, then restart the computer. Depending on the size of your hard drive, this could take hours to run, but be patient.

If this does not resolve your problem, the next thing to try is (in Command Prompt again) "sfc /scannow". You will need your installation disks as this program does a full System File Check and will ask for your installer CD/DVD to replace any missing or corrupt System files it finds.

I hope this helps...

BOOTMGR image is corrupt. The system cannot boot. What does this mean and how do I solve it?

The computer is not able to lode the operating system because the BOOTMGR is the instruction to tell the computer where it is at.

Below is a link from Microsoft that will help you in fixing the issue.
NOTE: You may have to reinstall Windows so data will be lost if have to. If you wish to back up the data before doing so I suggest to take the computer to a computer person that you trust. All they have to do is to take the harddrive out and connect it to another computer to access it.

My laptop is stuck on the screen before the page for the login screen, it is a blinking dash, with a black backdrop, it has been stuck for 2 days, what is wrong with it? And how can i fix it?

If the DeLL Post screen comes up it means that your laptop is okay. Pretty much your windows is corrupted and that's the reason why it's not starting up.

Things that you can do: (for windows vista & windows 7 only)

1. Restart the PC and immediately press F8. (You need to tap/press F8 repeatedly while starting up). You should get a screen that says "Advanced option menu."
2. Select Last known good configuration. If it does not work. restart the pc and press F8 again.
3. Select Repair your computer.
4. Run start up repair. If nothing happens. Run system restore. If it fails, the boot manager file of windows is corrupted.

Last option, you could try Dell PC Restore by pressing CTRL + F11 at the same time while the system is starting up. (You could start pressing CTRL + F11 when the DELL flash screen comes up).

NOTE: Running Dell PC Restore will erase your files/data & put your system back to factory settings.

Whenever I turn on my Philips GoGear SA5125 - it

when an Mp3 goes off like that, is means that the Mp3 is corrupted with virus from an application you installed or a data inside the Mp3 player and and has caused it to have memory loss.

To restore the memory of the Mp3 back to normal, you need to flash the Mp3. Flashing restores back memories that where lost.

After flashing it, it will start working properly again.

Take care.

My dell inspiron loads the dell logo but wont go any further

When the logo appears press F2 immediately and you will get into BIOS settings. Check to make sure that under BOOT DEVICE or DRIVE CONFIGURATION that a hard drive is listed. If it is then listen when you turn the laptop on that the drive is making some sound.
The drive may be bad but it also may have a corrupt start up file which can often be repaired using an install CD.
If you have important data you want to save, I recommend you get the drive out of the computer and use a portable back up drive case/connector to transfer the data to another computer. If the drive is just beginning to fail, this may be your last chance to save important data.
Let me know if I can be of additional help.
