There is no necessary to replace ink absorber pad, just reset with this procedure:

the proper reset code sequence to reset DCP printers without numeric keypad should be as follows:

    1. press buttons OK, Menu, Mono Start one by one, followed by up arrow key four times. this should all be done as short a time as possible, around 3 seconds.

    2. enter maintenance mode 80 by pressing the up/down arrow key and set key to select numbers 8 and 0

    3. press blue MONO start button to select PURGE which requires it to be pressed a number of times before PURGE appears on the LCD screen of the printer

    4. then use the up'down key and OK button to enter the reset code 2, 7, 8 and 3 keys to reset the counter : Note this does not overwrite the number next to PURGE on the LCD screen but once the last number is added it gets reset to 0000

    5. press Stop/Exit key to go to root of maintenance mode

    6. enter 9,9 to exit maintenance mode

Not only the absorber must be cleaned, also the counter must be reset. I know there is a program for older Epson printers to reset the counter. I found a reset procedure for a brother printer here:

I have never heard of replacing ink absorber pad? My printed has stopped because it says the absorber pad is almost full. Where can I buy, how do I fix

When you select clean print head the ink that is pushed through it is collected by an absorbent pad directly under the print head This pad can be removed, washed with water and reinstalled after it dries.

Brother MCF-J4710DW says ink absorber almost full and won't print? Never heard of ink absorber. Where can I purchase replacement and how do I do it

Many ink-jet printers have a pad in the case to absorb the ink from cleaning cycles. Often these show "full" long before they are actually full, and you can reset the counter and continue using them. I found your answer here:

Ink absorber full

This video shows you how to reset the counter so your printer will work again. However, it doesn't solve the problem of your absorber being full of waste ink. I recommend placing the printer on a towel in the event that the absorber overflows. This will avoid ruining the table your printer is sitting on.

Here is the parts list if you wish to order the pad. It will take most of an afternoon and be very messy. Not for the novice. Your best bet is to reset the printer and use it until ink physically leaks out of the machine - then replace it.

If you do fix it yourself. You will need the following:,Printer,Part,LS4699001.aspx,Printer,Part,LS5136001.aspx

I have no experience with this vendor. It's just the first one that came up in Google that wasn't in the UK.

Brother DCP-135C Error message CLEAN UNABLE 46 How do I clear this please. I don't want to pay for an engineer. Thank you.

The error you are getting is telling you that the
Waste Pads have to get replaced because they are saturated with ink.

The sets of pads run under $20. The Upper set of Pads is not too hard to replace, you need to take the scanner assembly off, upper cover and control panel and the flushing box is in the back. The second pad requires taking out the printer mechansim and platen roller , bottom plate and possible removal of printhead. I do not recommend you doing this.
The unit then needs to get reset.

Ink absorber pad is full

You need to replace the waste ink absorber and then reset the counter. These can be obtained from some suppliers of ink and spares etc, otherwise you will need to contact Brother in your country or take the unit to a service engineer.

Generally when these errors occur the waste ink absorber needs replacing, if not your images will start to degrade in quality and you will start to see ink splays / splodges appearing as well as random spots and ink patches. In the mean time press RESUME /CANCEL to continue printing.

What is a The waste ink absorberves

The waste ink absorbers on a Canon are a set of pads underneath the entire printer engine, they cover just about the whole bottom of the machine, on a Brother it's a replaceable box filled with absorber pads. Both have to be replaced by a shop to reset the counters and clear the error.
