i have windows vista and the windows media player 11 is for the xp version. please tell me this problem is fixable?!?

  • thievinhonky Jun 01, 2008

well it allowed me to change the properties to RAW however once the system restarted it defaulted back to the original settings. i also opened wmp and then connected the coby. it acknowledges it as 70X5 and offers to sync but once i select that option the message is "it is impossible to change sync settings at this time try back later." OR it gives a shuffle option. the shuffle option allows me to add songs to the wmp list but then will not sync.

I have an issue that I can rarely find a solution to, also involving the player's ability to play files. Apparently this mp3 runs movies only in an .mtv format but i cannot come across a codec ANYWHERE. Despite being ABLE to drag the files in, if my computer cannot read the .mtv files, the player names these files as "unknow[n] format". AHH I am so frustrated. Help?

    * Window's doesn't even recognize .mtv as a file format or file extension.

Take it off hold. The rectangular button at the top of the Coby MP4, needs to be pushed to the right in order to put materials on!
Hope this helps

Coby states you can ony use Window Media Player 11 and then you connect your Coby player via USB and WMP will recognize it. From within your Media Library you want to use the Sync function to transfer file over.

If you've tried this and it still didn't work for you contact Coby directly using this toll free number:

  • Toll-free: 800-727-3592 (8:30AM to 9:00PM on weekdays, 9:00AM to 5:30PM on weekends)
  • NY local: 718-416-3197 (8:00AM to 5:30PM on weekdays)
If you have any further questions or need the manual just comment back to me and I can help you.

Regard,
Worldvet

Fixable, probably. Have you started up WMP and then connected the Coby player via USB. WMP should then recognized your Player and let you access song titles on your PC and then Sync them.

    So, in this order:
    Have the Player disconnected.
    Start WMP in Vista.
Once you are in your Media Library, connect the Coby player.
The Player should show up in either your Icon bar or as a new or set of playlists next to your media library. You would create a playlist in WMP and then copy that to the Player and click on the Sync Icon.

Additionally, your player has a 1 GB memory card and I've read you can see this in Explorer but cannot copy files over. Like you, to me this seems odd. Can you right click the contents of the removal drive in Explorer and access a Property Sheet? It is possible, maybe that you could change the Security Descriptors, which are simply the permission to read/write, protect, etc.

So, try the sequence in WMP unless you have already, then let me know. The try right clicking the contents pane of your removable drive (the 1GB memory area) and see if you can access the Properties for that memory, if you can change read/write to read and write by de-selecting the write only box or whatever its called and change it and try again.

    Let me know what happens.

I have a feeling that this player is behaving like the MS Zune player which is giving people a lot trouble too and the only way to transfer and create a playlist in the Coby player is to use the Sync player via WMP.

Of course, if you are confused or don't understand what I've written please comment back and try to keep you frustration level down a notch. I can understand and appreciate how you feel as I get calls to my business to help people with their Zune player a LOT.

    Regards,

Sorry to say this, its time to call Coby and get a replacement. Or, if you can, take/send it back to where you purchased this and get your money back.

Oh, and it you wouldn't mind, changing your rating from Thanks for Trying to Helpful would be great we had at least had it up in WMP to finally discover it is truly broken... it would be greatly appreciated by me as it is for all of us who help out in the free area and not just the money making area.

    Best Regards and thanks.

How to add pictures to coby MP-C7085 MP3 player

You just click on My Pictures on the start menu, on the right hand side. Then you repeat this step, but click My Computer. At the bottom you should see an icon that says Removable disk (E:). You click that, and you should see the folders of your coby mp3 player. Now you just drag a picture from the My Pictures program to Pictures on the coby mp3 player folder, and THERE YA GO!!!

Your hold switch is on. Make sure hold switch is off on the unit, if that doesnt fix, then your music is copyrighted, this unit only accepts MP3 or Unprotected WMA files.
