Uniden um425 vhf to navman trackfish 6600 what coloured wires do I connect.

Hi Gil!
Easy peasy.
From your 6600, the data sends are the white wire NMEA (+) and the black wire (-). There are two black wires. Doesn't matter which one you use as they're interconnected anyway.
To your UM425, the green wire is NMEA in and the bare wire is ground.
So...
white from 6600 to green and
black from 6600 to bare.

Hope this helps you out.

My fishfinder will not continue to read shallow depths as well as in shallow depths when drifting and occasionally running across the water. My unit is a lowrance 522c color gps/fishfinder.

Hello. Your observation is spot on and it is actually a characteristic that is always true when using sonar. Yes, your Lowrance uses the same sonar as a nuclear powered submarine does. The two factors you focus on, water depth and boat speed are perhaps, the two biggest factors when it comes to the quality of the fishfinder. The boat's engine should be in gear at an idle or just above. Experiment with your boat to find the best throttle location for good arches. Usually, a slow trolling speed works best. The depth of the fish can determine if the fish will arch on the screen. If the fish is in shallow water, the fish is not in the cone angle very long, making it difficult to show an arch. Typically, the deeper the fish, the easier it is to show an arch.

When we zoom in we dont see depth i certain areas; but only grey colour. What are we doing wrong?

The image on my fish finder has a ghost like worm going across the screen. It doesn't read structure at all but will give you the depth. The arrow is pointing forward and I was told to point it in. I would think it would at least still have a picture when the boat is stopped. Any advice?

Proper set up for lowrance sonar

Where do you use your boat?

There are so many variables it's hard to fit it all here, but there are some excellent tutorials on the Lowrance website. The most important thing is to pick the right frequency, for the depth of the water. (200khz for less than 70', and 50 khz for greater depths). Depending on how serious you are about fishing, there are a lot of extras that you may never use. The key is to figure out which features will help you the most and forget about the rest.

It's common for SONAR to lose contact with the bottom at high speeds. The better the transducer installation, the faster you can go. Turbulence and bubbles will cause the SONAR to drop out. Lowrance's transducer installation guide explains it very clearly.
