Question about Everex NM3500 Laptop

WE BOUGHT THIS LAPTOP OVER 6 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE YET TO BE ABLE TO USE IT. WE ACN NOT ACCESS THE INTERNET AT ALL. WE HAVE TRIED PURCHASING OTHER WIRELESS ADAPTERS AND HAVE EVEN SET UP A HOME NETWORK AND ARE STILL UNABLE TO GET IT TO DO ANYTHING. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY WHEN WE ARE NEEDING TECH SUPPORT FOR THIS THING THAT FOR SOME REASON YOU PEOPLE WANT US TO PAY YOU FOR YOUR ADVISE. WE HAVE OUR OWN TECH STUDENT S IN OUR FAMILY WHO CAN NOT DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND WHY YOUR COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE A "CURRENT" WEBSITE, ALTHOUGH WE ARE FIGURING IT OUT QUITE QUICKLY. SO, EITHER YOU CAN HELP US OR YOU CAN'T, BUT WE WILL NOT SPEND ANY MORE MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF REFURBISHED WASTE OF TIME. DO YOU OR DO YOU NOT HAVE THE CORRECT DRIVERS TO MAKE THIS LAPTOP INTERNET ACCESSIBLE OR IS THIS GOING TO BE A LONG DRAWN OUT CASE FOR THE PUBLIC TO GET TO GET TOGETHER ON IN REGARDS TO YOUR FALSE ADVERTISEMENT AND DAMAGED GOODS???

One reason that you need to pay for tech support for this laptop is because of out of warranty and most of the time, you will have to pay for any technical support that you may have. I suggest that you try to make sure that the lan of this laptop is working properly by making sure that the driver is installed. Since you've tried wireless, try also the wired connection. Use ethernet cable from your router or modem to your laptop. Then try connecting to the internet.

I bought my table in Europe 6 months ago and now in New Zealand I am showing as connected to wi-fi but can't access any internet at all.


well there are many reasons
1.the network you try to connect with your wifi doesn't have an internet acces on it
2.it has an internet access but it's limited,it's just like you can't access it because there are another user that's already use the network
well,correct me if i'm wrong,i'm still studying this WIFI stuff,heheh

maybe you need to configure this ethernet switch or it is a password problem i have used a ethernet splitter switch to use two connect 2 computers before purchasing a router which needed to be configured

I bought a used laptop and I tried to connect it to isp and i used the cd that i recieved with my service. But when i try to install it it says i need nt6 because i only have nt1. how do i get this nt6


I think that the laptop is running Windows NT with Service Pack 1 installed, and the software that you are trying to install requires Windows NT with Service Pack 6 installed.

However, the _bigger_ issue is that Microsoft stopped supporting Windows NT (at any level of Service Packs) several years ago. Therefore, any computer running Windows NT that connects to the Internet is likely to get "hacked" within a few minutes of being connected.

So, my advice is to either "junk" the laptop, or try to find a "Microsoft Windows 2000 Upgrade" CD-ROM and license-key, and update your computer to use Windows 2000. However, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 2000 in July 2010, i.e., just a few months away.

If you really want "Service Pack 6", find a friend with a CD-writer and Internet access. Access http://www.microsoft.com/downloads and search for 'SP6A' -- download it, burn it to a CD-R, and carry the CD-R disk to your computer, and install it.
Then, run "Windows Update" -- there are many security-fixes that will be required, even after installing 'SP6A'.

Also, you might have difficulty finding anti-virus software that runs under Windows NT !!!!

My battery is jst plugged in ,its not charging...there is some problem with laptop pins so its hard to connect adapter with laptop..yet i hve purchase it 6 months before...

If the pins are bent or out of place on the adapter you will need to buy another adaptor.

If you bought this laptop new 6 months ago the store or manufacture warranty should still be good.

Your cooling fan sounds to have went out,causing it to overheat and shut down.It also could be something in the fan stopping it from turning.Try cleaning it or blowing it out with it off.But it mostly sounds to have went out.

See if you can plug in and external monitor and boot from scratch if the external scren comes on then the LCD on the laptop has had it. Ring Toshiba to get it fixed as its in Warrenty.

It all depends what you want for internet, wired, or wireless. I would say in your case, you would be better off with wireless internet. Also, i would recommend that you explore your options before purchasing a laptop, acer laptops are not very good in my opinion, they don't last long, and they are usually outdated by at least 6 months. You may want to check out tigerdirect.com, newegg.com, or frys.com, those are all great sites for purchasing computers, and computer accessories. But on to the original question, i'm going to assume you want wireless internet. You will have to make sure the laptop you purchase has wifi/wireless built in. The website you are purchasing the laptop from, or the representative in the store you're purchasing it from should be able to tell you whether or not it has wifi. Next you will need a wireless router, you want a router with wireless g functionality, they cost from $30 - $75 and will serve your purposes perfectly. The router should come with setup instructions, usually they're pretty user friendly. That is all you need for a wireless home network, unless you have desktop computers that you would like to have wireless, then you would have to get a wireless card for each one.
