Question about Koch Media Tarr Chronicles for Windows

1 Answer

I am unable to get my game Tarr Chronicles to run under Win 7 64 bit. I have tried running it in compatibility mode for both win XP SP2 and SP3 as well as Windows Vista. I have been searching the net trying to find solutions but with no result Every time I run the game it stops responding, and I have to close it via the task manager. I almost got it to work once, but have no idea how I did it, and as such are unable to reproduce it. If there is a patch that solves this problem, I have not been able to find it. Its frustrating as it and its successor Dark Horizon, are the best space sim games I have played since Wing Commander IV, especially since these games seems to be few and far between.

I have tried everything, how can i run this program? I have windows 7 64-bit and i need help!! Any solutions?

This is an older game so it may not be possible, but there are a couple things I would try. I have linked to sites with a full description of what is needed for each suggestion.
Compatibility Mode and Set CPU Affinity:
http://techpaul.wordpress.com/2009/06/28/compatibility-tricks-for-old-programs-new-machines/
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html
patch your game:
http://www.fileplanet.com/124619/120000/fileinfo/Blitzkrieg-v1.2-Patch

A quick search found other users who got Blitzkrieg to work, but I found none that were using Win 7 64 bit. 64 bit versions of windows seem to have more compatibility issues with older software than the 32 bit.
Assuming you have tried all of this, you might consider a dual-boot option for Win XP, or get an older PC for this and any other Win XP games (that don't like Win 7). I have found several of these.

My audio device is not working. so i want to sound driver for it.

Hello,
You can download all the drivers you need for Lenovo 3000 Y410 Laptop from the below link
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-68104.html#audio

Just scroll down the page for Audio drivers for both win XP and Vista, click on the blue version number to download the one you want.

Note : Incase you have win XP,some people has issues installing the xp driver with sp3 installed, the driver seems to work with only sp1 and sp2.So if u have SP3 and unable to install xp driver, do one of the following.
1) Uninstall SP3 and install SP2 and then try installing the driver for XP
2) Download Vista driver and install it with windows compatibility mode set to XP SP2.

I am unable to get my printshop propublisher deluxe 21 to run on windows 7.

Try Installing as Administrator, BOTH installing and "Run" the .exe as Administrator. Also try setting again both install .exe and the run .exe, in "Compatibility Mode" for XP SP2. to do this right click, .exe and select properties, then choose compatibility, mode and set there. If Win 7 on 64bit, remember to turn OFF digital driver signing, press F8 at boot time, and select at bottom of list.

Install the game to the computer as you normally would. Try to run the game. If the game will not run you will need to change the setting on the games desktop shortcut. "Right click" on the game icon, click on properties. Then click on the "compatibility" tab. Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" box then click the down arow and select "Win XP SP2" Click appy then ok. The game should run.

My game is loaded but when i click on the icon. it will not play?

Ok, from what I read on Microsoft, this software is NOT compatible with Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit. That was found directly from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=School%20Tycoon&v=Take-Two%20Interactive&uid=&pf=0&pi=5&c=PC%20Gaming&sc=Strategy&os=32-bit

However, checking the company's website, it mentions that some games that normally won't run in Windows Vista, can be ran in a "compatibility mode" which mimics Windows XP. Follow these steps and see if this corrects the problem:
  1. Right-click the shortcut for the game.
  2. Click the compatibility tab.
  3. Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode".
  4. Select Windows XP SP2 (or Windows 98 if XP does not work) from the drop down menu.
  5. Click Apply
  6. Click OK
  7. Start the game
It should run in Windows XP SP2. If it doesn't you can try Windows 98 to be sure. If neither of these work, unfortunately, you may be unable to play this game.
