I droped the camra and it will turn on but when I turn it on is says "please turn camra on and off again" and when I do it it will say the same thing.

Turn off the Camera and remove the Battery from it. Then, gently hit twice or thrice near the lens with your palm. Next, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.

After performing all the above steps, insert the Battery and make sure that it's fully charged. Then, turn ON the Camera and check if it's working.

If the camera keeps on acting, then it needs to opened to repair the malfunctioning Hardware.

Canon digital camera repair

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Lens is stuck

Hi,
This happens when the camera is in the ON state and the battery power drains out completely. Please recharge the batteries or insert charged batteries and the lens would get closed automatically.
Please let me know if that works.

Thanks and Regards,
Srinivas

....the lense wont go back into the camra.

This could be your problem. I haven't worked on your specific model camera however the idea and construction has been basically the same in all the cameras that I've opened and fixed. Inside the lens assembly, right behind the front optic there are two magnets that are opposite each other. These magnets are there to close the lens cover when it detracts. A common problem with these small compact cameras are that they are dropped or subject to some kind of impact and the magnets come loose (there actually put in with a cheap little snap to save money) and the lens can not retract. The camera stops functioning because the lens can't find it home position, thus your left with a very expensive paper weight. So what's the solution? Well, if your handy you could get yourself a pt. 0 philips and open the camera. Be careful of the capacitor (it looks like a battery), it can remain charged for several months and depending on the condition could hurt you bad. Once the cover is removed you can remove the lens assembly and further disassemble it. Make sure that you mark with a pen the position of the lens because you will have to reassemble it exactly or the camera won't focus. once you pull the CCD pickup from the back of the lens you will see the out of place magnet. Put the magnet back, add a very small amount of Crazy Glue to it, and reassemble in reverse order. Your camera should be as good as new. Good luck!

My camra head fell off and now it will not stay on

Don't know if you still have the camera since this is an old post.

It's possible that something got knocked loose inside the camera when it fell. Also possible that that could be fixed but better left to someone who's good at opening up devices with small parts and putting them back together again.

There's a video on youtube (in three parts) where a guy takes one of these cameras apart to tighten the lcd screen and then puts it back together.

If you know someone who's good at that kind of thing maybe they could watch the videos and try to fix the camera.
