Look on the switch for markings. Match them with markings on the wires. Look close.

You'll have to trouble shoot it... the belt either jumped off the motor pully or it may have broke. Either way you'll have to disconnect it and inspect it. Remember to always unplug the unit when servicing it. If the belt broke it is not hard to replace. The drums are held by gravity on rollers. Simply lift enough to get new belt pass the roller. If there are upper rollers in the way... simply remove them. Don't remove lower rollers. Lift the drum enough to install the belt and replace the upper rollers, relocate the new belt and close it up. Done.

Wiring schematic for white-westinghouse window air conditioner/heater selector switch

I'm willing to bet that the heater is grounded. Probably burnt up the original switch, heater wasn't getting power, therefore not tripping the breaker. Now the switch works, heater gets power and immediately trips breaker. Unhook the switch and tape the wires, reset breaker and try in heat and cool. If no problems it's likely the heater.

Replacing 3-speed fan swith, using westinghouse 77021. Black (hot wire) to L, red to 1 , outer black to 2. What is 3 STRIP for?

the third wire should be for neutral (White) This is an incomplete request,
Is this a three wire pull switch or are you hooking up to a light switch on the wall.
but what I know is Black hot
Red switch
white neutral
If it is NOT WHITE do not attach it untill you have someone over to help you

Here is the link to the wiring diagram for your dryer, I'm assuming you are looking for the wires as they connect to the incoming power cord? They appear to be the only ones with that specific wire color code.
Hope this helps!

Hooking a 4 wire power cord to a dryer that came with 3 prongs

*First ; before starting unplug unit or shut off breaker.

you should be able to match up color for color on your dryer, the fourth wire, green (ground) screws to the chassis, or cabinet. if your wires aren't coded as you say, it is red, white and black, left to right. see picture I've supplied.981ddeb.jpg
hope that helps

good luck

I need to change the power cord to my dryer to fit the outlet in my new residence. Is there any specific order to how the tabs hook to the dryer on the back? They aren't color coded.

Always disconnect electricity before beginning this process.

If you are using a 3 wire cord the wires go exactly as you see them. The middle wire goes onto the middle terminal and the outside wires go to the outside terminals which one goes on which side doesn't matter.

All the 4 wire cords I have seen are color-coded. The white wire goes to the middle, the green wire goes to any screw you can reach that goes into the metal case of the dyer. The red and black go to the outside of the terminal block and I usually follow the color code of the interior dryer wiring that already exists. Good Luck.

Have an old maytag dryer and need to replace 3 prong cord with 4 prong. How do we attach color coded wires?

First make dryer is unplugged !!!!!!!!! remove cover near cord entrance to dryer, you will notice 3 terminals. you should also see a green screw close by. there may be a wire or strap connecting center terminal to the green screw or ground. remove wires from terminals and remove strap from center to ground screw. connect new cord in the following order. green wire to green screw or ground, white wire to center terminal, black wire to left terminal, and red wire to right terminal. now you are done put the cover back on. I'm glad you asked this question. this is a very popular question. Your new 4 Prong cord is up to current code. I'm happy to see people updating there appliances to current code and making their homes safer. Thanks

How do I replace the belt on a White Westinghouse dryer

Unplug unit.
Use putty knife and unfasten the clips that hold the top down. Usually located where the top meets the body of the unit.
Top will lift up and hinge back.
Take back inspection plate off. This should allow access to motor pulley and tension pulley.
Pull tension pulley back and slid old belt off.
Just do the reverse to install the new one.

Hope this gets it done for you.

Amana dryer, changing out the electrical plug from 3 to 4 prong

For example; Green wire goes to green screw on machine. White in the middle, red on left, black on right. (observed small color coded wires connecting in back-ground as well.)

In general, each color should match. Meaning, white with white.
