Hi! When you rotate the mode dial, does camera change the mode? Maybe it switches only between video and twilight modes and when you set the dial to, for example, Auto mode, it's actually in Video mode? I have seen problems like this before with these cameras, mode dial had to be changed. If so, you should contact your local Sony service center and ask the price. What the manual doesn't tell you is that you need to change the REC mode first to be able to fint the buttons in MENU.
Fist go into the REC mode (the one above menu when taking a photo). Change this to PGM and click OK. Now go into MENU, on the 3/4 page second button down should be a box with a + in the corner. This is the colour mode option. You can now change to vivid, sepia or black and white.
