Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Packard Bell iMedia 1459. The first problem was that the NTLDR was missing and the PC will not boot at all. I have the MasterDVD whch I created when I first purchased the PC. I want to reinstall/(overwrite?) Windows OS ONLY (XP Home Edition). My programs etc are on one drive and documents are on another. The prompts when inserting MasterDVD are confusing - as they are worded in such a way that I feel I will lose all my personal data and settings!! Please help and advise. Thanks in advance.

Many thanks, ikkenom, for your helpful response.I posted the original query. I will do as I you suggest - I thought I may have to do this - just need another PC now, lol! This no criticism to you at, but I didn't envisage needing to use my girly screwdrivers having created the MasterDVD! - pesky Packard Bell.
    Once again, many thanks. Georgina.

Seek help from a qualified technician.
He/she can remove the disk-drive from your computer,
temporarily attach it as a "slave" drive to another computer,
and copy all your files to blank DVD-writable disks,
to make a "backup" of your files (and music and E-mail and contacts).

Then, you can reinstall Windows, knowing that you have that "backup".

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I have a Packard Bell Imedia desktop not sure of the model. It was working fine until recently, I switched on my pc and after the boot screen "NTLDR is missing Alt Ctrl Del" message appeared....

Remove the hard disk and attach it to an USB hard drive adapter and then connect it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will detect the hard drive as an external storage device, then you can open the various folders and files to copy your files to this computer or burn your data to a CD/DVD disc or USB flash drive.
Return you hard disk back to your Packard Bell so you can reinstall Windows.

You probably have a Packard-Bell computer. You will need to match the motherboard form-factor to your case.

My packard bell imedia will not boot, when i press on button it goes red instead of blue and the shuts off after 2 seconds

i'd say your not passing the post test....if you hear a beep when you start your pc it should boot to windows screen if you dont hear beep you could have a loose cpu fan open up pc and make sure the fan is secure if not try tightening it can be tricky either that or it could be your power supply i wouldnt attempt fixing that if not sure what your doing..or try turning off your pc plug it out disconnect all periphals and press in the on button and hold for 2 minutes then try and boot

HI THERE MY PACKARD BELL 2215 IMEDIA WILL NOT BOOT UP. iT WAS WORKING PERFECTLY THEN IT CRASHED NOW IT STARTS, FANS SOUND, BUT THEN IT SWITCHES OFF, ANYONE HELP? X

Sounds like an overheating problem. Clean the dust out of it, make sure it can get air on all sides, make sure the fans are turning. If that doesn't work, unplug the computer, hit the power button 20 times, wait 1/2 hour and boot it up.
