SOURCE: Resetting sound
Could the jeweler have inadvertently damaged the beeper in the watch when he changed the battery? I'd tell hime the problem, ask him to restore the sound and see what he says ("oops" is a bad sign).

SOURCE: I have a Timex Ironman Triathlon Speed + Distance...
While following DaveN4EF's excellent directions, I got stuck with the reset. What ever I did, it would not reset.... I took the battery out, put it in again and it worked like new.
Thanks, Dave for the great directions

SOURCE: have timex watch had battery
If you had the battery replaced, I'm guessing that the watch wasn't working when you brought it in for a new battery. It may not have needed a new battery. You might need a new watch. I've never heard of anyone needing a clamp for a Timex digital watch. In my experience, they use phillips screws to hold the back to the case. I have a case press for snap-on backs, but that's still unusual for a Timex unless it has a BIG case. I think your watch was shot before you replaced the battery.

You will find them on the module itself.
So after replacing the battery look on the PCB (printed circuit board) for the letters"AC" and "VSS". Adjacent to these markings there should be little contact points (probably gold or silver looking in colour)
Use a paper clip or similar and bridge (short) these two points simultaneously. Please rate my solution.
