Hi there, It is a bit difficult to describe how to change the motor for a Dyson DC08 so I have made a video. I think it shows how it's done pretty clearly if you like the video leave me a thumbs up or a comment. If you realise while watching that you need parts for your dyson I would recommend you check out Nelson Vacuums or Vacuumspot.

Dyson vacuum cleaner model DC08 lost it's suction

Hi Noel,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC08. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, there may be a blockage somewhere - the filter may also need a wash.

The easiest way to locate and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://support.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08/dc08-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/check-the-floor-tool

In normal use, the filter needs to be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but for any further assistance or advice, please call us free on 0800 298 0298. Our Helpline is available from 7am until 10pm, 7 days a week.

Best wishes,

Jack

Where dos the hepa filter go by on a dyson dc08 animal

Hi there, The HEPA filter in your DC08 Animal is designed to last the lifetime of the cleaner, and should not require attention. Do not try to wash this filter, as this could cause damage. this filter needs washing at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and ensure the filter is completely dry before replacing it. If you have any further queries about using or maintaining your Dyson cleaner, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. How many filters does a dc08 have?

2 the motor filter which is washable and the lifetime hepa filter that you bnever have to change.
Here are a few links to Dyson for you. if you remove the bin and cyclone top assembly (as if you were going to empty it) you should see on the body of the machine a small tab on the top of the body in between the 2 wheels. Simply lift this tab and you should find the filter. It will be a two part filter with a blue sponge and yellow casing.

For full details visit www.dyson.co.uk/support. Select Using your Dyson, or How to wash my filter from the home page, pick your Dyson vacuum cleaner and you will be able to view a step by step guide on how to find the filter and how to wash it.

There is also a post filter which is locate underneath a disc which is under the clear bin, however this filter should never need to be replaced as it should last the lifetime of the machine and it does not need to be cleaned.

I hope that this information is useful to you. If it is a vote with the thumbs up is greatly appreciated.

You have to tap the switch a couple of times before you can get it to stay on.

Hi there, This is a really common ailment of the Dyson DC08. The switch is failing due to a build up of dust in the cavity where the motor and switch sit. You will need to buy a new switch to fix the immediate problem and also a filter kit to keep it lasting longer. Vacuumspot.com.au is the best Australian supplier for vacuum cleaner parts. I have uploaded a youtube video of how to change the motor. You can watch that video to see how to change the switch too since they are right next to each other. If this is a helpful solution please take a moment to rate my answer.

Dyson dc08 motor made rumbling sound and stopped

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. Almost certainly it is the motor gone :(. Take off the lid that is under your bin and look at the filter underneath, if it has a black underside and a kind of burnt smell you will need to put a new motor in. If you happen to live in Australia you can get a motor from NelsonVacuums.com.au here is a link to the correct page. Hope this helps.
happy Vacuuming!

How do I change the on/off swich on a DC08 allergy

Hi there,
The switch failing is about the most common problem for the Dyson DC08. I have made a video of how to access the switch compartment and change the motor too if needed. Once you can see the switch it simply unclips and a new one goes in. Have a look at the video I think it is pretty straightforward. If you need somewhere to buy the switch check out nelson vacuums or vacuumspot.
Please take the time to leave a testimonial, thumbs up or review. I appreciate your feedback!
