Wd52525 yellowish color when static. Menu has some pixelation. Colors are off.

It does not matter---these sets are so bad (this one) they sell the entire chassis or the light engine which has the color wheel in it and last time I looked the wheel does not come unless you buy the engine.

Phillips rear projector color wheel

If you need the wheel Google the model number with "color wheel" and note some of these Philips sets the wheel is not available by itself--must purchase entire Optical Light engine.

I have a samsung hlp6163wx/xaa I replaced ballast and bulb. Color wheel sounds good but just a dark blue picture and perfect sound what could it be?

Some things to be aware of here--if the color wheel turns too slow set will shut down---if you hear a fan like or high pitched sound it is the wheel.

If a uniform blue and dark it is likely the DMD which is the box the wheel connects into and can be purchased by itself (forget that as for about 50 more than it costs you can buy the entire light engine that comes with it)

Bottom line: Likely a bad or damaged optical light engine.

I have a 46hm95 tv. red light flashes 3 times, then pauses indicating color wheel problem. is this a dealer replace part or can i replace? if so, where is listing to buy part? is it worth fixing or...

Reports indicate the color wheel is sealed in the light engine and MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE AS A SEPARATE PART.

You can contact either Andrews Electronics (LA and largest OEM parts dealer in USA---some of these sets do not sell it as a part--have to buy the entire light engine which is more than the set is worth as a used set.

Google the model number with color wheel after it and you will see what I am talking about.

If this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Little green and white boxes on the screen

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens.Found it right here http://www.discount-merchant.com/MITSUBISHI-RMD62-939P977A20-Light-Engine-p/1138084.htm?Click=48173 Have a blessed one!

50" DLP Samsung HDTV

That sounds like one of 2 things:
  1. Color wheel
  2. Light engine
Color wheel because of the losing color, but the light engine because of the picture freeze. It's very difficult to judge since I can't be there to see it. I'm leaning toward the light engine though. The only fix is to replace the DMD board, or entire light engine.
