the model is an amana g3252, freezer on the bottom, french doors. i see no thermostat knob insidethe fridge, and your instructions for finding the electronic board for the motor are too vague - still can't find it.

  • spero673 Oct 17, 2010

This is an Amana G3252 - it is not cooling. We had a power outage last week and the motor came back on, but no cooling. repairman came, could not find the electronic board controlling the motor, but ended up giving it a kick and it started up again (no ****) (sorry). But now not working again (i hear the motor but no cooling). repairman does not know what to do. ideas?

  • spero673 Oct 17, 2010

is this the only control board in the fridge? the repairman seems to think that this is not the main control board.

Hi.

Not all fridge unit have electronic control. If there is electronic control, there will probably be a led board, then you can have one or two control boards. One located near the keyboard, and if there is an additional one, that will be located behind firewall, or still in front side.
If there is no control pad and leds, and you cannot find electronic control, then it is possible that there is no electronic control. The fridge is controlled through cold control thermostat (the one attached to the knob), and the freezer is regulated only through defrost control.

Here a general diagram of a two doors fridge with no electronic control.

    Hi.

I wrote a comment here, solution was refused and passed to different experts, I will try to catch up and give some help regardless of bad feedback.Probably I was offline and the asker could not wait

To start, I would like to know how comes that you got a link to control board without posting full model number(that was model name). There are several different models corresponding to same model name. They mount different boards even if the schematics are all similar.

Here for example full parts wiring diagrams for model G32526PEKW

Here the main control board for model above: Electronic control
. Verify that part is compatible with your model number. THat is the control behind the led assembly.

As said in my previous comment, before replacing a nearly $100 control board, the technician must test most parts, as the control board may not be the problem.

There is a separate damper control that works controlling damper motor (ventilation). That is most likely involved. Here the part (still for G32526PEKW) :Control

Here full diagram, parts are 5 and 13, click on picture in link to enlarge.

Before replacing any control, technician needs either to test all parts, or to do a test reading voltages at control contacts during operations.

Other parts that must be tested are:

Wiring harnesses to controls (read Ohms to ensure there is continuity)

Additional temp control in pantry assembly, if this is involved (simple part, easy to test). Part 4 in this diag.

As said in my previous comment, the technician must also ensure that there is no gas leak, and that the defrost system (evaporator and defrost control) is working OK. Damper motor must also be tested.
Also ensure that you have done a full defrost, leaving unit off overnight, that can fix a jammed damper motor.

To get parts enter the full number in the Sears website or verify that you have same model. If there is any problem with model and parts in website, call or contact Sears.

If you repute my solution helpful, then please take some times to accept the solution. Providing good repair tips requires time and skills, and your feedback is important for us.

    Regards.

    Ginko.

Also please let me know if you get my comments.

As said, typing all this stuff and looking for parts take time. Question is locked to other expert right now, and I wont post anymore unless you are actually getting my comments.

    Goodbye.

    Ginko.

Recommended temp settings for freezer and fridge

The ideal freezer temperature is 0 to 5 degrees and the fridge section from 36 to 40 degrees. However, you will get more accurate responses if you leave the model number of your exact unit.

Model # MFF2557HES Top refrigator section stoped cooling freezer is working

You may have Ice buildup in the freezer. You freezer has a fan in the bak that sends the cool air to the fridge. Your fridge dial determines how muh cold air comes from the freezer. Try defrosting the freezer. You may have to pull the back panel off of the inside of the freezer to get the ice thawed. The ice build up is likely causing the air to not get to the fridge. Hope it works.

I bought a kenmore refrigerator model 71303... a french door model with nothing on the doors (dispenser-wise) and a pull out drawer freezer. fits the space in my kitchen perfectly, however I just...

Unfortunately, 71303 is not a complete model number, even though that is how Sears lists the unit here: http://www.searsoutlet.com/22-7-cu-ft-French-Door-Bottom-Freezer-Refrigerator/d/product_details.jsp?pid=41106&mode=seeAll . However, most french door refrigerators can have the doors and freezer drawer removed. I think your model number will be 795.71303* (there are a few digits omitted). The manual is available here: http://c.searspartsdirect.com/mmh/pd_download/lis_pdf/OWNM/1103856L.pdf . The directions for removing the doors and freezer drawer start on page 11 (page 10 of the PDF).

The 795.71313 is a similar refrigerator. The directions to remove and replace the doors and freezer drawer is given starting on page 13 in the manual. See that manual here: http://c.shld.net/assets/docs/spin_prod_946454012.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(Kenmore refrigerators are made by other manufacturers. The three digit prefix in the model number is important to find the correct manual. A different French door refrigerator, 106.7200*, can have the doors removed. However, only the front of the freezer door comes off. That manual is here, http://c.shld.net/assets/own/spin_prod_734629012.pdf; see page 10 and subsequent pages.)

check the defrost thermostat , and any temp sensor that can determine the freezer temperature.
If this fridge temperature is electronically controlled, the freezer control board must also be tested.
