Hello,

What the most probable things thats causing that noise is the rear drum support rollers.
This youtube video will show ya how to take apart the dryer and replace those rollers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBf_vwvlFGM

The part number for the rollers is 349241T that part number is a kit for both of the rollers in one kit plus the plastic triangle clips that hold them to the shaft they fit on.
That part can be purchased at your local appliance parts store or also online at;

Loud squeaking noise when you start up the dryer could it be a bearing dull squeak not high pitched a little bit of a grind sound

It does sound like a bearing or at least a lack of lubrication. But it could also be belt slippage if it only happens at the start. If it is the bearing it would be continuous and slowly get louder and louder.

When we turn on our Whirlpool Supreme electric dryer, it heats up and dries clothes, but it is making a loud squeaking noise throughout the cycle...sometimes louder than others.

The squeaking noise can be caused by any of the following.

Location High:

Belt slipping on the dryer drum

Worn Drum seals but would sound more like a dragging noise

Location Low:

Belt tensioner pulley bearing frozen and the idler pulley shaft is spinning inside the belt tensioner assy.

Belt slipping on the motor bearing

Motor bearing is dry

Thanks for using FixYa!

Dryer turns and heats, but makes a very loud squeaking (or should I say, SCREECHING) noise. The heavier the load, the louder the squeaking.

Does it sound like a belt ?
Or does it sound like metal ?
Might need to replace the drive belt..
Or - it could be the bearings..

Hope this helps !!
