Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
You need Administrator privileges, which I can guess you have, then follow this walk through:
Right Click My Computer
Select Disk Management
See if some other drive, like a memory card or CD or DVD drive is using G. If it is right click that drive and select (words to this effect) change drive letters and from the drop down list change it to Z for the moment.
Right click the drive partition you want to change.
A dialoge box comes up with a drop down list of letters available to you. Change your drive from G to F. If F is not displayed and you have reassigned F to Z you may have to reboot and repeat the above until you can assign a new letter and F should be available now.
Often times PCs today and especially Laptops have built in memory card readers. I always start by assigning the first memory card slot in the list to M for memory card and then assign subsequent letters (there are usually only three) as N and O, and so on.
For your CD/DVD drives I assign a new letters a few letters down from the last Hard Drive partition.
If you need further explanation or instructions comment back to me and I'll work with you until you get this resolved.
