Question about Virtual Reality VRCD500-SDU CD Player

1 Answer

No sound. Tried all solutions posted.

I have a '97 pathfinder. I bought a Car Stereo wire harness at Best Buy that fit my car so I didn't cut into the factory harness
. The harness fit, I installed the wires as directed (all clearly labeled) and I have no sound at all in any mode.
I looked up trouble shooting on the VRCD500-SDU and checked all the solutions that were given and none seemed to change anthing.
Would the ground have anything to do with the problem? I am grounded to the steering braces that are bolted to the frame.
What is the red flashing light? I pushed the reset and nothing changed.
What is the A/E switch do?
Thank you for your help, Chris

The unit turns on, both the sub and rca outputs have "output", but the speaker wires are not giving any output.

Are you using the speaker outputs? If you are using the rca pre-outs for an amplifier they are mislabeled. The subwoofer out is labeled as the front output and it is off when shipped. Connect to rca out labeled as the sub and you should get sound. The sub out can be turned on from the front panel by pressing and holding the "band/sub" button. The flashing light intended to mimic an alarm, it has no other purpose.

I have a Nissan Pathfinder 2006 I took out the stereo and I want to install my own . the harness connector I cut I need to know what wire is what on the Pathfinder 2006 so I can install my stereo

Reattach the wires and buy a wiring kit you can pick one up at Walmart now or any car part store for about $20. They're color coded and let's you wire up any radio in 5 min. Worth the money and keeps you from shorting out your radio or other circuits.

I haven't cut a radio harness since the early 90s no need to anymore. Good luck

How do yo hook up a boss stereo to a 1994 nissan pickup 4x4 2.4L? need to know what wires from the stereo go to what wires on the truck!

If there's a harness in the dash still, do not cut it off! The easiest thing to do is get a wiring harness that will connect to your Boss radio and then plug right in. You can get them from Amazon or your local electronics store like Best Buy. You can sometimes find them at WalMart as well. The benefit of going to a place like Best Buy is that they have an installation bay with trained techs so they can ensure that you have the right harness. The colors on this harness should match that of the Boss stereo and it's just a matter of soldering/crimping them together.

If the harness has already been cut, its a little more difficult cause the factory wiring doesn't match what's on the Boss. I found the wiring colors for a 94 Pathfinder here but couldn't find any for a 94 Nissan Truck. They should be the same/similar but either way your should still check the ignition/switched and constant power wires with a multimeter before connecting them to the new radio.

For the constant, you can get ground from any piece of metal inside the dash, touch it to the wire the suggested in the diagram. The meter should show 12v or just under. Do the same for the ignition/switched, you shouldn't get any reading. Turn on the ignition and it should go to 12v or just under.

For the speakers you can check the pair with a 9v battery. Take the two wires for lets say the left speaker, blue/white and blue yellow, and touch them to the positive and negative terminals of the battery. You should hear a pop from the speaker. If you don't most likely the wiring is different from what I have listed below which is fine.

After figuring out the which wires are the powers and ground you can basically take one wire and put it on the positive terminal of your 9v battery. Now go through the rest of the wires and tap them one at a time to the negative terminal. Do this until you hear a pop not the wire colors and which speaker made the noise. Now move on to another wire and repeat.

The downfall of doing this is that it doesn't tell you polarity. After you finishing connecting the radio to the in-dash wiring turn it on. Listen to the sound carefully. If it sounds tinny one or more of the speakers polarity are incorrect. Try to determine which speaker/s sound tinny and reverse there wiring. Check again and hopefully everything's sounding good.

Tried installing a new stereo system and had it in and going but the speedo wouldnt work so took out the stereo and it would work again then tired replacing fuse in stereo as it had blown and tried once...

your best bet is to buy a chiltons book for your car from an auto parts store. also i might add: reconnect your wires to the factory plugg you cut off and buy a wiring harness from a car stero installer or radio shack for your car it will automaticaly adapt your original harness (which your having trouble with) to a standard wiring setup for an aftermarket stereo. then its all about maching colors :)

I need to know which colour wire from the radio is for what, so i can fit a non standard stereo

My best advise is not to cut the stock wire harness plug. Go online or to your local best buy and buy a wiring harness that will plug into your stock plug and into the radio. then you don't need to know what any wires are. cutting the stock harness is opening a can of worms.

How to hook up the pioneer stereo to wire harness?

Not real clear on question, but you can buy a direct fit wire harness and the wires are color coded so you don't have to cut and splice your wires on your factory harness. The harness hooks to your factory plug and you wire it to your pioneer stereo wires. Harness is about 7.99 up at most stores.

Car stereo switch out

Ok, first off, NEVER CUT WIRES!!!! what you need to do is go to your local audio store ie. best buy etc. buy a wire harness. It makes everything so simple, just match colors. If your wires are already cut, then you need a haynes manual about $15.

I am having trouble trying to install a stereo to my 1994 lincoln town car because i dont now the color code to the radio harnes so i can install it

Best thing to do is purchase a Radio Wiring Harness. These can be purchased at a Store like Circuit City, Best Buy, WalMart (not sure of your location) or a 12 Volt Specialty shop.

This harness will connect to your new radio harness and plug directly into the vehicle harness without having to cut wires. The Radio Wiring Harness will come with color identification to match to your radio harness.
