Question about Virtual Reality VRCD500-SDU CD Player

1 Answer

No sound. Tried all solutions posted.

I have a '97 pathfinder. I bought a Car Stereo wire harness at Best Buy that fit my car so I didn't cut into the factory harness
. The harness fit, I installed the wires as directed (all clearly labeled) and I have no sound at all in any mode.
I looked up trouble shooting on the VRCD500-SDU and checked all the solutions that were given and none seemed to change anthing.
Would the ground have anything to do with the problem? I am grounded to the steering braces that are bolted to the frame.
What is the red flashing light? I pushed the reset and nothing changed.
What is the A/E switch do?
Thank you for your help, Chris

The unit turns on, both the sub and rca outputs have "output", but the speaker wires are not giving any output.

Are you using the speaker outputs? If you are using the rca pre-outs for an amplifier they are mislabeled. The subwoofer out is labeled as the front output and it is off when shipped. Connect to rca out labeled as the sub and you should get sound. The sub out can be turned on from the front panel by pressing and holding the "band/sub" button. The flashing light intended to mimic an alarm, it has no other purpose.

Never Cut The Stock Harness.

The best advise I can give and the worst mistake you can make while trying to install a new head unit into a car is DO NOT CUT THE STOCK HARNESS.

New head units come with bare harness with just wire ends, so you may think you need to cut off the harness on the car to wire it in.

This is the worst thing you can do. As a matter of fact, it is a bad Idea to cut any harness for anything in your car as they make wiring harness adapters to fit every thing in your car.

Before you install your head unit, go to Best Buy, or any car audio place, or on the internet and get a harness to suit the install. For instance if you have a pioneer head unit, and a 2007 Honda, you want a pioneer to 07 Honda wiring harness. This will allow your head unit to connect right into the stock wiring harness.

The same can be done for the speakers as well.

Dual xd1222 radio fit a 97 stratus wire harness

Basically the radio will fit but since harness differs between some chrysler products, you need to find the pigtail that will fit the Dodge harness and give bare wires to connect the Dual's respective wires. An example of this can be seen at

I have found similar pigtails at Walmart, Best Buy, and some autoparts stores. Crutchfield includes all this based on your purchase - just a thought.

Bought a kenwood stereo for 1986 chevy silverado and i don't know how to install

Hello erisCisreal,

I'd start with the video here. Then go to Crutchfield's "outfit my car" feature and determine if the Kenwood you have already purchased will fit properly, if you need a "dash kit" or other adapter, and if any special removal tools are required or recommended.

Then I'd browse and look at some of the install articles.

For the best and cleanest installation, without cutting or tapping into the vehicle wiring, it's best to use a vehicle specific wiring harness. The one shown here may be correct for your vehicle. It is for select GM vehicles 85 and up. You may also find the harness at your local car audio shop, Best Buy, or even WalMart. Check to make sure of the exact one that plugs into your vehicle wiring.

Hope this helps.

Car stereo switch out

Ok, first off, NEVER CUT WIRES!!!! what you need to do is go to your local audio store ie. best buy etc. buy a wire harness. It makes everything so simple, just match colors. If your wires are already cut, then you need a haynes manual about $15.

I am having trouble trying to install a stereo to my 1994 lincoln town car because i dont now the color code to the radio harnes so i can install it

Best thing to do is purchase a Radio Wiring Harness. These can be purchased at a Store like Circuit City, Best Buy, WalMart (not sure of your location) or a 12 Volt Specialty shop.

This harness will connect to your new radio harness and plug directly into the vehicle harness without having to cut wires. The Radio Wiring Harness will come with color identification to match to your radio harness.
