If the model was manufactured before 2007, read below, in that case I suggest not proceeding with the repair.
I want to call attention on the fact that several of old Ionic Breeze models are not
being manufactured anymore because of health concerns. New model use a
completely different technology. Parts for old models that raised concerns are not distributed anymore.
I suggest contacting manufacturer,
if parts are not available, then the purifier was among the ones
related to health concer. In that case I suggest replacing the ionic
purifier with a different air purifier.
I don't know if you are still trying to repair the air purifier.
About
your Ionic breeze purifier, I wanted to report that they are not being
manufactured anymore because of heath concerns. New model built from
2008 use a completely different technology. Parts are also not
distributed anymore, and the new Sharper Image does not provide any support for the old model. I suggest replacing the ionic purifier with a different air purifier.

Pull up on the tab on the bottom of the front filter and pull up. You then should be looking at the bulb, which you will turn 1/4 turn (2 clicks). You should then be able to pull the bulb out.
