MP1400 projector lamps shuts off after ~1minute (by 2 users)

Bought a used Compaq MP1400 projector for outdoor movies. Powers on, displays are crisp and clear. After about a minute, lamp turns off. The fan still sound like it is on.
If I power it off, I can power it up and it will display for another minute before shutting down.

I have excactly the same issue, I have opened it up to see if the fans were clogged up and they were clear. When its connected to a pc I can see the screen but only for a minute. I thought i could go to the menu and reset it to factory settings but it will not stay on long enough for me to do that. May be a design fault, if it was a safety feature then there would be some mention of it in the manual or on HP's website
